I have set myself a budget of about $19,500 on my search for a C5. I have found several in this range but I have a question. Would I be better off buying an older lower mileage car such as a 97 or 98 with 45k-75k miles on them in the $18-18,500 range or a newer one such as a 99-2000 with 95k-115k miles on them for the same money?
I would buy the lower mileage. I bought my 1998 with 41,000 miles four years ago. Now have 100,000 miles (daily driver) and have only replaced, tires (on 3rd set), oil pressure sensor, brake pads.
Find a few thousand more and buy a low mileage 2000-2002 I just bought one for 20,500. They can definately be had in the northeast for that this time of year

Personally I like to go with lower mileage cars - but it would depend on whether the car has all the options you really want on it. If it doesn't, I might wait a while and see if you can run into a lower mileage newer car that is in your price range and that has those options.
I purchased 24k 97 back in May. I would opt for lower mileage. I have all the options I want except for telescopic wheel. (This will be my winter mod). From what I have seen high mileage cars somtimes aren't cared for as much as lower mileage cars.
