Ecklers is moving their show to Kissimmee
Just got this e-mail from Ecklers.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Eckler’s Changing Date & Location for Annual Corvette Reunion
TITUSVILLE, Florida - November 20, 2006 - Eckler’s Corvette of Titusville, Florida after 27 years is changing the date and location for its annual Corvette Reunion. The 28th Annual Corvette Reunion will be on Friday and Saturday, March 30-31, 2007 at Old Town in Kissimmee, Florida.
The new location, according to Michael Wilson, Eckler’s V.P. of Sales & Marketing, “is ideal for a car show, with lots of parking plus all kinds of concessions and entertainment for attendees.” The event will offer awards in various classes, there will be a manufacturer’s midway, a swap meet and as always Eckler’s famous scratch and dent sale. For all the previous years, Eckler’s Corvette Reunion was held at its Titusville facility during the month of October.
For more information on Eckler’s 28th Annual Corvette Reunion, call Cozette Alley at 321-385-1113 or e-mail her at Cozette.Alley@ecklers.net. You can also visit ecklers.com. for show details as they become available.

Just what was needed, turning a famous and long-running Corvette show into Yet Another Old Town Car Show.
I won't be going. This sucks.

Quite a change for them, especially the dates. But, time will tell whether this was a good move or not.

I believe that the main reason for moving the show is because the building right next to them that's been empty all these years has been leased. The large parking lot where Ecklers has it's main gathering & car show actually (now) belongs to the people who will be leasing that building. Ecklers can't exactly hijack that parking lot for 2 days straight!! So, without that large parking lot being available, there wouldn't be much space for any kind of a gathering! This's why they're pretty much forced to move the location of the reunion. I'm curious as to what they'll do in relation to inventory for sales. In years past, they had a large warehouse right down the street from the main location to pull from, as they really do a ton of sales during that 2 day show. Now it appears that they'll have to transport their entire inventory to Kissimmee for this show, or they'll lose lots of sales. Doesn't sound fun at all! But they really do have no choice. Move it or lose it!

This was a BAD move by Ecklers.

There are plenty of other venues where they could have held this, places MUCH closer than Kissimmee. Old Town is just far too touristy to get my time or attention. During the actual show, the people showing their cars will need to spend more time watching their cars, as there will be quite a bit more tourists as well.

I just wonder how they're going to pull it off. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure! They'll just have to basically transport their entire retail operation to Kissimmee for that weekend...........I hope that they won't try the 'pay for it here & we'll ship it to you for free' route; people usually like to get the parts they're paying for, especially since they're right there at the show! I'm curious to see how they're going to handle it...........
