Default window addjustment help

Hey guys,

Im finally getting tired of puddles and water inside the car, wind noise etc...

How do i adjust the windows?

The nut on the bottom front of the door doesnt appear to do anything for my issues.

Which way does that adjust?

I need to move the top of the window into the car more, and it looks like tilt the back edge of the rear window into the car more as well.

No tool shop around here, including sears, has ever heard of 'reverse torx'

but i found a small socket will turn it just fine anyway.

Yeah thats the procedure I followed last time, it didn't seem to have the desired effect, but maybe I didnt do it right.

Ill give it another go I guess and see... thanks kale

Wait... which jack screw should I be turning... the one under the door or the one behind the reflector?

The adjuster behind the reflector will bring the back of the window in or out. The adjuster under the speaker on the bottom of the door will do the same to the front part of the window.

Ah ha!

After I got it to adjust a little better, I noticed the window does not raise enough. Theres an 1/8th inch gap between the window and the channel in the weather stripping.

How did you fix the window not rolling up all the way? I didn't know there was an adjustment for this.

Maybe a problem with the window regulator? Not really sure why it wouldn't go up all the way. The motor on mine seems to go until the window runs out of track. Maybe someone else can help.

It sounds like you may need to get the door panel of see whats going on. There are clamps that hold the window in place (silver, on right and left of unit) that may have loosened. These can be adjusted, and this may be making the window sit low. If thats the case, easy fix. Hardest part is getting the door panel off.

Check it out. Here is the window regulator and motor assembly. The two black bars are the tracks.

The book says that if the gap is minor then do what you’ve already done;

Window Height Adjustment - Door Minor

Use this procedure when window height is off less than 3 mm (0.12 in).
1. and remove the small front access plug and the rear access plug from the underside of the door.
2. Adjust the front and the rear window regulator jack screws equally.
3. Close the door and check the window alignment.
4. Open the door and install the access plugs.
The Major Height Adjustment involves loosening the window clamps kevin40zx referenced, closing the door with an assistant outside helping to position the window correctly. Then open the door and tighten the window clamps.

Window Height Adjustment - Door Major

Caution
Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver's door. When operated, the Express Down Feature allows the door window to drop very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .
Reconnect the window switch to the harness.
2. Raise the door window.
3. Disconnect the window switch from the harness.
Remove the window clamp sight access plugs.
Loosen the window clamps.
4. Close the door.
5. With the aid of an assistant standing outside of the vehicle, position the window to the door opening.
6. From the inside of the vehicle tighten the window clamps.
Open the door and install the window clamp sight access plugs.
Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .
7. Perform minor height and minor tip-in adjustments as necessary. Refer to Window Tip-In Adjustment - Door and Window Height Adjustment - Door Minor .
