Glass Top Refinishing (Clearcoating)
Ok all you body guys out there.
A friend of mine bought a 99 and it had the same dreaded GM peeling that mine has. It looks like the top layer is scaling and wearing off. Passenger side worse than drivers side.
The previous owner had the top treated somehow and clear coated and it looks like brand new.
All he could get from the old owner was that the guy who did the work used a resin based "hard" clearcoat. Has anyone out there ever heard of anything like that? Thanks in advance.

My 2001 top is doing the same thing... I have a strong body shop here in OKC willing to do this procedure for $100. I am planning on having this done after the new Year

I had the top redone in our 96 by Thompson Astro-tops. They will ship you a exchange or redo your top. Ours come back looking like new. They also do C5s.. Here is the link

The clear top on my "new" 99 is trashed also. The PO had it sitting outside for the last 7 years. I am watching this thread for ideas also.

I recently refinished my Lexan clear top. I prepped it by sanding all the peeling hard coat and then applied bulldog adhesion promoter and applied clear coat, color sanded and buffed. the top looks like new and no fish eyes at all. I cleaned it as normal for any refinish project. I always scrub item or panels with plain Dawn dishwashing soap before any sanding.
