Filled 2004 with full tank of gas. HUD only reads half full. Seen this several times on forum but did not pay much attention. Anyone know of a remedy without going to dealer?

Techron will fix it, but if it's under warranty, I would get it fixed. Should not have this problem for an 04 model. Let them replace the unit now, while warranty is still good.
This stuff has worked for many C5 gas gauge problems. You also will need to start rotating where you buy gas. BP/Amoco, Exxon, Shell, as the detergents in each of them help counter-act the other. A lot of issues with these are concerning the C5 sensor and sulphur content of the fuel itself.
The BG-44K costs about $20-25 dollars around here and I run a can through the two C5's once a year and the gas gauge problems have disappeared.

If the warranty is still valid get it fixed. Techron worked for me but the sensor may be fouled up. There are some good threads describing the fuel system which explain why it happens but it can only get worse.
May be worth switching gas brands. Maybe use Chevron for a while.
