Default what other sports/muscle/exotic cars have you driven...vipers/c6 zo6/c6/muscle cars.

I love cars, like most of you. I would like to know what it was like for those of you who have drove other muscle cars like vipers/c6 zo6 or even the older muscle cars like the chevelle/mustangs/gtos. I would like to add that I love my c5 and would never part with it. I would like to know your opinion and driving impressions on other sports cars c6 corvette included! This is going to be fun!

most recently drove a new c6 with APS twin turbo.
its in the March Vette mag that Phil at DTE put together.

It was absolutely an amazing car!
690hp car.......60-120mph...in no time at all......just keep it pointed straight!

Sold an 03 Mustang Mach 1 with 5500 miles to get the vette. The Mach had 350hp and 320tq to the wheels and honestly felt considerably quicker than my stock c5. However the vette goes in for cam, full exhaust, pulley, cai and tune next week!!!

My current "muscle" car:

I was fortunate (?) to grow up in the height of the Muscle Car Era. As a senior in high school I owned a `62 Impala SS with a 427. After selling that (dumb mistake) I owned several Camaro's before buying a GTO Judge. That GTO had the most torque of anything I have ever driven, and when you dropped the hammer you better have it pointed where you wanted to go! There was some classic battles waged between the Judge and a 6-pack Challenger in our little town.

I bought my first Corvette, a `61, in 1972 and have owned 6 since then.

Had my 97 Formula Firebird for 3 years and loved every minute of it. It was a great car and a lot of fun, at a fraction of the price of a vette.

I owned a '70 GTO, driven 'Vettes of course, a Super Bee with 426 Hemi, dual quads. Probably the fastest car I've driven is one my brother currently owns, a Shelby AC Cobra from Superformance with a Roush Racing 427, 550 rwhp.

Sold my Viper a couple months back so I could get a newer one. Well, in the mean time, I found a Twin Turbo C5 to play around with. This is my 5th Vette (3 being C5's) and I plan to add another Viper to the stable hopefully this summer.

Only other current sports car I have driven is the C6. In the muscle car category, I owned a '71 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 convertible - sure wish I had that car back.

All the following were at Buttonwillow Raceway:

Aston Martin Vanquish S - great looking, good straight away power - no where near the fun of a stock vette, much less a modified one. The Vanquish S wallows in corners, and has extremely poor brake feel. The vette spanks it in handling.

Ferrari 575 M - again, heavy and poor braking. Better then the vanquish but no where near as fun as the vette.

Lotus Elise - nothing touches the Elise in cornering, great feedback to the driver - gutless as can be in straightaways.

Ferrari Enzo - Absolutely no car I have ever driven (look at this list) comes close to the performance of the Enzo. This is the most hyper gokart you could ever drive. Cornering is amazing, breaks could stop a semi loaded with 30 enzo's, almost out brakes my race prepped R6! Acceleration as good or better then my R6. With the open back straight away at buttonwillow (average entrance from Nascar corner at about 105+ in nearly all vehicles) the Enzo can reach 185 at the end of the straight away (about 3800 ft) - 185 was done by Johaness van Overbeek (you see him at Sebring driving for Flying Lizard Porsche team) - my best was 175 in the Enzo. In the vette unmodified 135-140, with intake, LG Pro long tubes, xpipe, Borlas, and a custom tune (34 rwhp) I was able to hit about 145-150.

Porsche Carrera GT - almost as good as the Enzo - less jittery/hyper feeling, better sounding. 165-170 into the break marker. Great brakes, better then even my 14", 6 piston Wilwoods.

Ferrari 360 Spyder - handling feels equivalent to stock vette, little stronger top end - braking equivalent to the stock vette. 135-140 into the brake marker.

Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale - slightly better braking then my Wilwoods, still better power over 100mph then even the modifications I have on the vette. 155-160mph into the brake markers. This car is one of my favorites - lots of fun to drive, and not as scary fast as the Enzo - the Enzo is actually work to drive.

Note, my R6 will come out of Nascar corner and I top out at 148mph about 3/5 of the way down the straightaway - all other vehicles need the whole straight to get to max speed. I actually passed the Elise in Nascar corner, and ran down the Stradale on the bike.

Ferrari 430 Coupe - refinement on the 360 Stradale - should be interesting to see if they make a 430 Challenge and how it will perform.

Porsche Twin Turbo - For the cost, disappointed in the handling, and the turbos come on hard but not untractably so. It was fun to drivem but didnt wow me. 135-140s into the brake marker, brakes felt about equivalent to the Wilwood setup, better then the stock vert. Handling was about equivalent to a z06, better then a vert, not as good as my t1 suspension with the elite engineering race plate.

Porsche GT2 Track toy - Another really fun car, need to be prepared for the turbos as this one can get you out of shape. I ran some great laps in this car - 160s into the brake marker, with the carbon brakes some excellent breaking (better then the Stradales).

Lamborgini Gallardo (original model) - lots of fun. V10 has great power, sounds awesome, feels a bit heavy in the handling, and slow in the breaking. The vette can handle as well, the Wilwoods break as well, but I didnt have the HP to quite compare to the seat of the pants feel of the V10. 145-155 into the brake marker.

Lamborghini Gallardo (new model) - great improvements - more so seen in the handling and breaking then in the power. Very confidence inspiring.

Lamborghini Murcielago - very heavy and big feeling - but man what acceleration. The roar of that V12 behind your head - wow! 155-165 into the brake marker.

Note on the lambo's, the seats are made for little Italian butts! For those of us at near 6'1 and 220lbs, not the most comfortable fit.

Damn nice commentary
I felt the exact same way about the same cars.....on my PS2

Nice list

I have experienced seat time in

05' Viper SRT. Hella Acceleration, unstable feeling, cheap interior, lotsa floor board heat (even with the top down), didn't feel as secure as my vette, but alot of fun to drive
02' Carrera 4, very refined, confident ride, kinda boring to me...
67 Hemi Dart (recreation) violent acceleration, noise, smell....turned me on like no other...except for my vette
67 Mustang (Bullet look-a-like, including 390 4-speed) Fun to drive, really had to work the gears, great in a back parking lot on 15in wheels...
Rode shotgun in 03Z06, 427 C5R, track prepped by MTI. puckered up entering last turn @ RA..

I have ridden shotgun in a 2001 M5 all the way to the limiter on a country road......one of the best rides I have experienced. I imagine the new v10 has more power, and maybe better handling, but the ride cant be any smoother than the old style.

I have also ridden in a 725hp 03 cobra vert, that my friend just sold. it would give some streetbikes hell from a roll.

I need to DRIVE some of these cars I guess......

I've driven some pretty special cars over the years.

I have owned a Hemi Cuda, a Dodge Coronet 440 six pack, and have used Vipers several times for the week end when I was still working at Chrysler. My son has a Dodge SRT4 that is built to the limit. Very quick, but very scarry too. That front wheel drive torque is amazing.

But I still get that big grin on my face when I take my Corvette for a spin.
It will always be up there with my favorites.

I was going to post this separate, but yesterday I was offered a chance to drive the new Mustang (Shelby 500).

I must say I am impressed Smooth, and a real challenge to the C6 (non- Z06).

Over the years I've owned two (2) Shelby KR 500's, original (66) Cobra, Mach !, Boss, GTO's, Judge, Dodge Charger RT, Testarosa, and numerous Corvettes (over 40).

All have good, and bad, characteristics.

John Page (21st Century MC) lent me a twin turbo, stage 3, 427 to drive when I was redoing the '99 C5. What a rush - 800+RWHP. I took it back to him after an hour since if I were to have kept it for the weekend as originally contimplated I would be dead! I then chose the NA 427 from him for the '99.

Back to the new 500 Shelby - it is really nice - and the neighbor paid a little over $7k above MSRP for the "dealer adjustment".

It is interestingly enough to consider one for the stable, but I am holding out for the Challenger from Dodge (Hemi, of course).
