fuel quality
I can't speek about the 93 for the corvette because I recently bought it and have not been to Sams for some time. But for the last 2 summers I have put 89 into the ski boat (Malibu Echelon LX) and have not had any issues. The boat has a 350 Chevy with a 4 barrel 650 cfm Holly carb.

Chevron ONLY!!!! In our training video here at my job they told us that Chevron was the BEST gas out there!! I also know a guy who owns a gas station and he said there are certain places NOT to buy gas from. We get stories here all the time of bad gas...

I buy from Sam's Club gas stations to save money due to the high number of miles I drive all the time. To tell you the truth, I don't get as good mileage out of their gas and more pinging, than I do if I used Chevron. The highest here is 91 Octane. Supposedly, all gas is from the same refinaries with just different additives and so on, such as Techron from Chevron and whatever Shell puts into theirs. I haven't see a Shell station out here for a long time. Maybe they were bought out by Texaco. Anyway, supposedly its all the same gas. I don't think so based solely on gas mileage from one station to the next and I can see the difference.
Edited: No sooner posted this message and I saw a Shell station.

Sams
I use it in both my wifes SUV and my DD Nissan 4x4.
I would use it in the vette think it's good gas.
Now for me Exxon runs great in the vette.
Chevron makes everything I have CLATTER.
It might just be the area but only Exxon or Sams in all our vehicles.

Most gas in our area all comes from the same tank farm, outta of the same pipeline. What they add as they load the truck makes the difference, IF any.
Run what workss for you and dont worry about brand. If mileage or performance goes down, then you will know that wasnt the best choice.
Add a bottle of Techron to the fuel tank at every oil change if you ar concerned about suslfar deposits, etc.

I use SHELL 93 Octane ONLY in the VETTE and Sams in the rest of my vehicles. I haven't had any issues using it in my wifes or kids cars but I don't take any chances with my BABY !!!!

Look at it this way. Sam's club doesn't refine their own gas therefore they are supplied from a local source wherever they are located. Before making any kind of educated decision on the quality of their product you would have to first find out who they are supplied from and THEN do some homework from the list.

Chevron only for the Vette. Exxon/Mobil or Amoco/BP for the DD's.

Just my 2 Cents worth
Poo Pooed the dicussion on Tier 1 gas vs others when I bought my car last year. Normally used WaWA (An East Coast gas and groceries place) premium or BJ's Member's Warehouse Premium. They had the cheapest prices for Premium. Car ran fine with my frame of reference. Kept reading, on the Forum, about what a difference Tier 1 gas makes in a Corvette. Switched, as an experiment, January 1st to Shell 93 Octane. 2,000 miles later, I can tell the difference, especially at idle, the engine seeems to run smoother, grabs power easier, mileage is up a little. I have 24,000 miles and teh engine just seems stronger when I bought it 10,000 miles ago. Maybe I'm imagineing things, but logically bet the 'you get what you pay for' adage applies with gas. I'll stick to the Tier 1 gas, it's usually only about a dime or less a gallon more than other lower Tier premiums. 'Cheap mod', $30.00 more or less a year.

It never ceases to amaze me how cheap some of us are. We participate in a forum that deals exclusively with expensive, high performance vehicles. It has been repeated over and over again the benefits of top tier gasoline in general, and Chevron with Techron in particular. Yet to save a buck, literally, or even less, some of us will use off brand gasoline, taking a chance on engine pinging and fuel gauge problems. Believe me, I can be as cheap (i.e. penny pinching) as they come, but when it comes to the Vette, saving a few pennies on a gallon of gas is "penny wise and dollar foolish." Just my, literally, "$.02."

Most of the gas around here comes from the same wholesaler.
