Well... since my gas guage is pretty terrible i cant really tell. the guage says its full for a week of daily driving, and two days after that, it will read 1/4 tank. It drives me crazy!

Whenever confronted with this choice I tell folks I need more information. The disposition of the tank before you would be asked to declare it's state should change the answer. If the tank was empty and then became 50% loaded it would be "half full." But if the tank was full before becoming 50% loaded then it's "half empty." I heard this logic used in the 1/2 full 1/2 empty scenario in my high school days and can see the issue in both forms.
But to answer Chip's question. Either way it'll cost you about $30.

Never thought about it like that. Very good point!

I'd say half full based on old55's reply Chip... (I got a full tank the day I brought her home) And ever since I added the bread maker under the hood, I can actually watch the half emptiness grow... along with my perma grin!!
Never let your cars go below quater tank or so. The reason being is that alot of fuel pumps are submerged. When the gas level gets so low that its to the point wherethe pump is no longer submerged the pump can overheat and lead to premature failure over time. The pump being submerged keeps it cool.
Seriously don't make a habit of running it down that low, you are asking for trouble.
I vote for the "half full" category. Not that I am a particulary positive person but the way the price of gas fluctuates around here ( up 10 cents all at once and then drops a penny every other day) I am always heading toward full but never quite getting there. Why fill it up at the higher price - it will be less tommorrow. I just keep adding gas as the price keeps dropping day by day always heading to full but never quite getting there.
