Everyone complains about the interiors...I can't stand the interior of the C6...it is too plain, too smooth. There is not enough "character" or depth to the dash like there is on the C5.

C5Z is more of a "specialty" car
A C6 is simply a base car.
Avoid 2005 C6's

I was in this boat last summer...I was mostly looking at my options in my price range. I do like the fixed headlights of the C6's, but overall I'm happy I went with my 03 Z06.

The C6 interior is definitely nothing special. It's only SLIGHTLY less cheap than the C5 but it's no leaps and bounds improvement shy of the cupholders.

Slightly less cheap, yes. It looks much better, though, especially the highest trim levels. (3ZR, 4LT, etc)

My Z is way more aggressive and sick of a car though...we need to mod the C6 more.
Why are the c6's easier to get in/out of.? Only have has a c5 i thought they would be the same?

You sit higher in the C6...the entire interior was elevated..hence why you get deeper cup holders, etc. They raised the beltline of the C6, raised the rear deck for laminar flow from the roofline and improve aero, added the angled camback, etc. The compromise is that upward visibility in the C6 is less because you sit higher and windshield top edge is different. I'm always ducking down to see traffic lights in the C6 vs the C5Z. Getting in and out of each of them daily is quite noticeably different.

Holy Zombie Threads Batman!

C6 doesn't have the FRC body style...the BEST looking of the C5/6/7 cars IMHO. Actually, I even hated the fastback glass hatch when it came out in 1978. 67 was the last fastback that looked good...

I'd rather have the top of the line older one than the base model slightly newer one. Also, being a broad shouldered guy I fit better in the C5. As mentioned before, in a C6 I feel like I'm always unable to look up at stoplights and don't feel like I'm sitting down in the car as much. That's fine for a smaller framed person but not for me.

^Yeah, coming from C4 to C5 to C6...you progressively feel like you move up in the chassis...because you basically do. C5's are very roomy and I think it's one of their best assets...lost of room, lots of trunk space in the FRC...great car for sure.

Can't decide on a c6 or another c5z, so many nice ones out there. Also have a pickup for bad weather. Started looking for a nice c6 manual but keep finding c5z's.
I just had this struggle as well earlier this month. I had an '01 Z about 10 years ago, and it's one of 2 cars I wish I still had with the other being my first car (1967 Plymouth Barracuda - cool car for a 16 year old in 1992!). I can afford a newer vette, and considered it very much. I landed at finding a low mileage '04 Z06 that is the same car only newer with lower miles and bone stock. I spent this week replacing the harmonic balancer, shifter, lights, belts, all hoses, column lock, brakes / rotors, and a few other odd and ends. I fell in love with the car and am digging more than when I bought it. The styling, parts availability, and being able to work on a C5 with ease made it a no brainer.

I was told the C6 was a much better car, I know the seats were better but the rest of the interior to me does not look as good. The steering wheel is a joke in a 6 IMO looks wise, I have been told for a daily driver the car functions much better ?

I like the Atomic Orange in tan top VERT in a C6, the C6 GS is supposed to be a great car but I do not care for the rear brake inlet or front brake discharge luvers. If it was not for that the GS C6 would look awesome IMO.

Are the stock seats the biggest problem with the 5 ?

SUUUUPER boring and plain....I really hate the radio/HVAC buttons/layout/look. There is no depth to the dash.

I like this much better to look at on a daily basis....hence why I bought one.

The only real difference in the two pictures you posted is the grab handle. Lol.

Uhhhh wut?

C5 grabb handle adds depth
C5 dash for airbag is angled more adding depth
C5 radio/HVAC is set into the dash adding depth
C5 top center vent being separate from radio/HVAC dash adds depth.

Whole center dash on the C6 looks like a flat board.

The differences are so slight, that calling one "plain and boring" is ridiculous. But whatever you need to tell yourself.

It's simple...it's an opinion. I don't need to tell myself anything lol. Could have owned a C6...don't like the interior, bought C5Z...all is well.

Nothing wrong with a C5Z. Loved mine, and still miss it from time to time. Enjoy yours.

Yeah. SUPER different!
They are near identical. One just has the ugliest shifter ever made and a grab handle..

This could be a factor for me. Getting in/out requires a full squat on my c5z and i try sit on the middle of the seat to not wear out the bolster. Not an issue but 10 times a day in a daily driver might be a pain. Do you lose any headroom in the c6? I'm about 6' and fit ok in the c5 but my cap hits the visor sometimes. I may look at a '07 c6 tomorrow will def get in /out a few times. It has 50k miles, pics look great, $20k. I need to test drive a c6 before i decide. Thanks for your advice.

I'm really lucky as i'll have 2 vettes so whatever i end up with i can't lose. Wife thinks i'm crazy, she's probably right.
