The best thing that worked for me, was a high speed polisher.... you can pick from 1001 products to use, but the machine was the key in my opinion/experience.

I use 3M Perfect It II rubbing compound with great success.
A friend used a foam pad with a built in polish that is used to remove scratches and clouding on directional signal plastics etc. and it worked great on his scratches. He then used McGuires scratch remover and them polished it. Scratches were gone. Could "just" feel them with your fingernail.
Zaino Z5 should remove the light surface scratches. As for the others, someone else will chime in to help you on that.
Let's be perfectly clear about this. Z5 contains fillers that will fill some light scratches so that you don't see them, but it does not remove them. To remove scratches you need some type of mechanical method. Elbow grease works if you have a LOT of time and lift weights in the off season. A Random Orbital Buffer (ROB) seems to be the waepon of choice these days.
Spend some time over in the car care section and you'll have more info than you know what to do with in only a couple of days.
BTW, I use a Porter Cable 7336, Menzerna Polishes and a cutting or finishing pad based on my needs. There are alot of good products out there. Do some research.
Do yourself a favor and get a pc7424.
From there I would reccommend an orange pad and polish.
I recently removed scratches/swirls with menzerna IP, followed by ZPC.
Meguires #2 Machine Buffing Compound with an Orbital Buffer. Follow with Meguires cleaner/wax then pure carnuba wax. Got this tip from a body shop and it worked for me.
Just trying to remove a few fairly light surface scratches, and maybe some slightly deeper ones.
Please let me know what's worked best for you and where I can get it.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
There is a lot to learn about detailing. Check the car care section on this forum and then check www.autopia.net which is a car detailing forum. You can do a pretty good job by hand with Meguires Scratch X which can be found anywhere. If you have more serious problems, you probably need to check into a Porter Cable Random Orbital buffer and some high caliber machine polishes and pads. Some were mentuioned already. I use 3m's line and find them good. Menzerma is very popular as well. Zaino PC is a great finishing polish with an orbital. Once you have a perfect surface, then Zaino Z5 is superb stuff and will help keep the finish like new. Z5 has some minimal filling properties and is my personal favorite Corvette polish. On my Torch Red Convertible, it does a great job and there are no visible swirls or scratches on my 7 year old car.

Don't know how deep the scratches are or where they are, but I've used this myself on a couple really deep scratches on the rocker panels as well as a chip or two on my doors and it worked really well..it's called touch up 123 check them out at http://www.touchup123.com/
Just another alternative...hope it helps.
