I used Water Wetter in my old Mercedes 450SL, which always had a tendency to run hot...a common problem for older MBs. I did notice a difference, but not the 30 degrees they advertised. I know that a lot of race vehicles, like the F1 cars, use something other than the common collants, stuff with no water at all.

In racing most Water Wetter is used with water only. I don't know what it would do with an AF water mix. I use it in mine and I have noticed that it doesn't get as hot faster in stop and go. Used to use it in prints and it stayed about 8 10 degrees cooler but that was with water only. If this stuff dropped temps 30 degrees they could charge what they wanted for it as everyone would be picking it up.

We use VP cool-down (just because we are a dealer...water wetter is as good) in our race cars with water only & it works quite well. With antifreeze the effect is nominal. Cant hurt, but will not cool as claimed.

On a properly functioning cooling system it wont make a difference at all. All these additives do is make the water....wetter, by reducing surface tension. This way more water molecules touch the hot metal motor and the water absorbs more heat, then it also gets to release more heat at the radiator since more water touches the fins.
Now if you had a 160 thermostat, are you now gonna be reading 120 cruising down the freeway? NOT. Your system at best will always be a few degrees above the thermostat rating, since it is not always wide open.
If you exceed your cooling system ability with a supercharger etc, then it might help, but it will NEVER run cooler than the thermostat it has in it.

I used this stuff in my 84' Vette when I had it. It did not work as advertized. So I called them and they told me I needed to run a minimum of two cans ( for the correct mixture percentage) to get the desired results. So I drained the system and went out and bought two cans as directed and did the mix as per instructions and the car ran about 3-5 degrees cooler. So I bought a Be-cool aluminum raidator for the car. They told me it was a drop in...wrong. I had to modify the shrouding. No change in operating temp. I called them to complain and they told me I needed to buy their cooling fan set up. For another 600 or so bucks. I said Ok but asked for a dealer discount since they wouldn't gaurantee that would reduce the operating temp. They told me no way since I wasn't a dealer. So after spendin 35.00 on 40-below + 750 on a be-cool raidator I decided that some people are full of crap. I will never use either of these folks again: PS I solved my problem by buying an '02 6 speed. If you want to cool it off, drive faster

I've used 40below exclusively in my 79 nova. I cudnt get it to cool due to it being 60% bore and I had the entire engine done in chrome which holds in heat as we all know. A circle track racer told me this is all he uses in his cars so I tried it and it works awesome. Car wud run around 210 all the time and up2 230-235 sitting in traffic or at stop lights but now regardless of how hot it is outside it stays around 180-190 at all times even if I let it idle for a long time it doesn't go above 200....so in short yes it works. One bottle and distilled water is all I used

You are wrong because a 160 degree t-stat will not get you 160 coolant temps. That temp is only the temp the t-stat opens. A properly running stock cooling system is just fine. You guys don't think the TESTED the car in all the extremes?

Dude , you always have to look for the "up to" qualifier in the promotional statements.
It might be possible , in some conditions, to get a 40 degree temperature swing result, just like my wallet could have up to a 10, 000 dollar bill inside, but it only happened once, the result of a special circumstance.
I used red line water wetter in my previous radiator, and I saw results, it knocked off a couple of degrees in use. When that radiator failed, I filled the new one completely , but plan on adding some wetter when I get some room.

40 Below...Now there's a blast from the past. I used it in my first 'Vette a 1992 back in the early ninety's, one time and didn't notice a d**n thing, and won't use it again, it truly is NOT as advertised, at least for my 'Vette it wasn't. Maybe in a different car/cooling system. I imagine there would have to be some success stories with it used, the product wouldn't be around this long, losing money. That's my .02
This is what makes the internet invaluable,in situations like this: Product Review. Back in the day, it was magazine articles and ads telling you months later what you are already found out was bogus and your wallet a little lighter.

In eight years of driving, modding and racing my C5, I first did a 160 thermostat, with the head/cam work. It was OK for a while, but would creep up to the 230 range in traffic, and on a really hot day , using the AC, it would run up the temp quickly. I tried the water wetters, no real help. The only sure cure is a better radiator. When the supercharger setup went on last March, I included a double core radiator from Engineered Cooling Products. Running over 625 RWHP on the street w/AC on, racing in the heat of summer days, and i have only seen my temp above 205 once, and that was stuck in an I70 mountain traffic jam, AC on and idling for near an hour. It may be the only real way to cure the matter. And at $250, it fit right and was a bargain.
Can't argue the benefits of an upgraded radiator, because it DOES work. I put a Dewitt's in with Spal fans a couple years ago, and I'd swear I've never seen temps above 205, close, but didn't hit it. That's at idle, middle of summer, with heat index well into the 100's. Money well spent and peace of mind.
