Default Spinning tires big ticket

Took off from a light on a 50 mph highway and spun tires for 3 secs. No law man around I thought but all of a sudden he was behind me. Did not see me do it, he was 6 cars behind me but heard it. Pulled me over and was told that speed exhibition has a mandatory loss of of driving license for 6 months. Holly..... He was a great guy and did not give me a ticket but it will be a long time before I light em up again

I got pulled over the other night. I left the parking lot and got on it a little and then again on a side street up to the highway. I saw the lights in the background and new it must be me. As soon as I turned on the highway I pulled over and did the ol' don't shoot me hands on the wheel. He told me he could write me up for racing even though I DIDN'T spin the tires. I sure didn't see him but he saw me and heard me....Borlas. He was a nice guy and complimented the car and told me to slow down

I will slow down one of these days

Ya know, it is so hard in these cars to not want to floor it at a light. On most streets, I am pretty controlled. But for me in particular, if I am at a light that leads to a freeway onramp, I can resist the urge to gun it! However, I am glad for posts like this because it brings me to reality and makes me realize that I am living on borrowed time and one day, that cop is going to be behind me (no matter how much I look for him) and pull me over.

Trust me - there are PLENTY of LEO's that understand and have hi-po cars themselves......they're not ALL bad guys. Many of them have Vettes, and there are many LEO's on this forum.

My suggestion - go buy a lottery ticket, because today was your lucky day. And - take his suggestion seriously, do it at the track!

"speed exhibition" and 6 months loss of your right to drive? (yes I said right, that is my belief, but lets not go into that one :-)...for breaking traction for 3 seconds? Sounds ridiculous to me. I've seen cops to much worse even when they aren't chasing someone down. Having you pulled over on the side of the road for 15 minutes is much more of a threat to public safety than you chirping your tires.

Default spinning tires

The other part of the story is that many of the drivers who I left at the light actually where beeping in support of the LEO as they passed me while I was pulled over. One burn out and suddenly I was a meniace to society

They were jealous of you because you have a Corvette. It's the same thing that motivates punks to vandalize expensive cars, they know they can't afford to drive such a fine vehicle so they key it or slash its tires instead. Those that beeped at you were thinking "ha, serves you right for having such a nice car that I wish I could afford but can't." You should feel sorry for them.

I don't know what part of the world you are in, but around here its also illegal to use your car's horn unless you are warning someone of danger. It's a noise violation. So they beep with joy to see you pulled over for this crap while at the same time they are committing an equally innocuous traffic violation?

I think it's more like when your numbers up it's up. I became the proud owner of a new speeding ticket on the way home from the Cruise In. Me an a friend stopped at a Dairy Queen in a small lil town out in nowhere land. Speed Limit outta town 45. No big deal, I am doin the speed.... I can see the speed limit 55 sign so I start bumpin it up. Town Marshall commin at me in opposite lane. He buzzes by turns around hits the lights. Tagz me for a 55 in a 45. Well, crap .... he getz no argument from me but I sure hate pullin $110 outta my mod fund dough.

Oh yeah, he does tell me I have a nice car and hopes I get home before it rainz......... (which I didn't)

That was very nice of him but I'd look into his claim just to be sure he's not just trying to scare you...

Reckless driving could be an avenue for him but not speed exhibition, where is the speed?

The punishment just doesn't fit the crime here.....

A corvette lighting them up, never heard of such a thing. Lucky, but ive found that cops seem to like vettes and cut them more slack.

Took the 67 big block out for a ride last night, pulled onto the highway, and accelerated (very quickly) onto the 2 lane road. Needless to say, I was a 55 mph in a few seconds. So... I'm cruising along talking to my son, check in the review mirror and see a patrol car weaving up behind me about 4 cars back. We stop and a light and the LEO pulls up REAL close behind me (State LEO). I'm thinking $%@$@^ I'm about to get pulled over, but the LEO has his head up near the windshield and is checking out the car!!!

We made a left at the next light and he continued straight... close one!!!

It was probably just the ones who were directly behind you that you were throwing rubber, rocks and debris on and making them breathe that wonderful tire smoke. Get behind another vette and let him do a burn out right in front of you on the street and see if you like all the crap that is thrown up on your car.
