Drifting
To lift my C5, I do the same thing, almost. Except I added a 1 x 6 piece of Hickory, harder than Oak, to the treated 2 x 6.
It now does not creak or groan, as it did before, when I lift the car. It does not 'bow' even a little, at lifting the car on either end.
Works great, and I feel safer, with the added strenght of my 'lift tool'.

These are so much more hokey pokey and dangerous than having the cup of the jack lifting from the center of the cradles, with the cradle metal to metal and a notched lip. You guys best pray the wood never slides at incline. The only wood mine sees are the SINGLE 2x4s I drive up on to get at the pucks and to clear the jack for the rear.
The 'jacking points' in those locations are so the car maintains stability once in the air. Great places to put a jackstand, not so much for actual jacking. Any shop or dealer will lift from the frame using pucks.
I've seen a car fall before from dumb **** and it was NOT fun wedging the jack literally anywhere to get him unpinned.

Hi,
Here are some pictures which help demonstrate how to use the ramps and crossmembers described here:

I've been meaning to post these pictures for awhile now. It's Father's Day and I can do whatever I want, so here they are.....
2 X 10 ramps with cut angles. Note long 3/8" bolt heads where they drop through into the holes drilled into the cement.

C5 driven onto ramps- I drilled holes into the cement to lock ramps into place.

for Jack Stands that lock, so you don't hit the jack stand lever by mistake and have them collapse
