Default Is a “Big Mouth” a substitute for a front air dam?

I keep destroying my front air dam (spoiler) due to the angle of my driveway. I was wondering if the “Big Mouth” could be used instead of the air dam. It looks to me that it does not hang down as much as the air dam and since it is like a scoop, can it replace the air dam?

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

My install guide says it stays. If you are doing that much damage to your oem dam, then the bmad, even though shorter sticks out further toward the front of the car and may get destroyed also.

Oh my, Clayton,
I have heard of guys having to back in their steep angled drives or come in on a 45 degree angle to avoid scrapping the air dam. I use the "45 method", very slow, too. But, you don't want to replace that dam dam. The "wheely method" works also ( also effective in jumping curbs).....

The Big Mouth is a replacement for your OEM air dam. It mounts in the same location. Yes, it may help you with your air dam replacement problem, just be sure to buy the one with the wheels on it that allow it to roll. I think altogether if you buy the dam and add the wheels, you are talking nearly $200, so you just need to ask yourself if it's worth it given that the OEM air dams are around $50

BTW, I do have one on my car, but no wheels.

Have you tried just the fatt mammas or fat daddys from CCA? Maybe throw skid plates on there as well and trim the air dam?

For $50 you can replace it 4 times, I always scrape mine everywhere, even when driving

This is kind of a bad pic but my car is on the lift in the garage and I have very little room to take the picture. Hopefully it does illustrate the height difference though, between the oem air dam and the big mouth.

^^^^^^^ nice!

I trimmed my air dam about 2" with the cutting wheel. It still does the job great and no scraping I will take pics later on.

Yea, get a pair of the roller wheels for the skid bars and that should help with the scraping problem. Also, coming in at an angle like suggested earlier should help.

Here's a bad shot of mine with the Big Mouth and rollers. No air dam needed and mine has a quicker cooling recovery with the Big Mouth. I'm going to take the side air dams off too, just haven't gotten around to it.

What I mean by cooling recovery rate is that when you stop, the temperature will go up, but once my car gets moving again the temp goes down quicker with the Big Mouth on it over the OEM "air scoop".

Default My solution???

I have come up with a solution…at least in my mind. I am going to try to build my idea tomorrow. If it works, I will post pictures. If it doesn’t, then…who knows what I’ll do.

ps: I already have the “fat mama” wheels and they do work great, but the angle on my driveway really sucks.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas
