You can get it from McMaster Carr--type in wire mesh in their search engine and go from there, this is what you want --Type 304 SS Woven Wire Cloth----5x5 for configuration ---.047 wire diameter-------12" x 12"= size of piece of SS mesh (enough to do two cars)--part #85385T817 ($ 18.45)

Very nicely done- a couple of questions (1) does engine compartment get dirty quicker with the opening? and what about your air filter. Most of us using some form of a CAI with an open element, it would seem to dirty fairly quick (especially here in phoenix).
