Default Oil Change help!!!!!!!

Ok I like to change my own oil. I have on all my vehicles (including bikes, boats, ect) but now I am in a dilemma. My car is lowerd so I can't get a floor jack under it. I called my local muffler shop & he said he would charge me $15. to change the oil using my oil & filter. No sweat but He cant get it up either( the car you perverts). It wont fit on the 4 post because the post are too long, it won't go on the drive up because the front will scrape real bad & I don't want to repaint the front or need any f-glass cracking. His floor jack is the same as mine. What to do. I have heard of ramps that will accomidate a vette but a lowered vette? I called one of those "jiffy pit" places as a last result & they want $28 to change the oil using my oil.........I just don't like those places........and I think $28 for some one to overtighten my filter & oil plug (you guys who DIY oil know what I mean) is too much to pay..........HELP!

Drive it up on some 2 X 6 pieces of wood. That would raise the body up enough to get your floor jack under it.

This is so easy it's not even a challenge. Get the car up in the air on el-cheapo home-made ramps high enough that the jack will go under. Try this -

Or, make some modified Mike Mercury ramps -

I have a low profile jack now but before I had that I would drive it up on 2x4's, then I could jack it up.

Had similar problem, as we all do. Made some wooden ramps, just high enough so that I could get a trolly jack under. Not my idea, I hasten to add - copied the idea off this forum.

Whatever you do, DO NOT take it to a Jiffy Lube or similar oil change facility. They just don't take the time to do the job correctly. A Corvette needs to drain for quite a while to get all the oil out (I usually let it drain for at least 20-30 minutes).

try this race ramps roll ups in the front and rhinos in the rear. If you need to use wood in front of the roll ups for your lowered car. Then just back up and change oil. Simple!

I'm not being argumentative, Just curious. Whether lowered or not, from the picture if you back up onto the ramps the race ramps (front) would have to be placed under the car (behind the front wheels) I don't see how this is possible given the cars rocker area distance to the ground. Other than me not understanding the mechanics of that problem, the 4 ramp deal looks good.

Maybe he rolls up on enough wood to allow the ramps to slide under the rockers. Just a thought.

You might be right there (I read his suggestion for lowered cars too) but was hoping for something else.

As you can see from my picture above I did not use any wood because my car is set at the stock ride height. A lowered car would need a piece of wood in front of the race ramps so it would clear the body panel behind the front wheel. By the way the Race Ramps Roll Ups were designed to just clear the body of a stock ride height car. The only caveat with using the 4 ramp system is to make sure the floor is not smooth, the race ramps won't slide on a smooth floor but the Rhinos will. That is why I did it on the front cenent pad where the concrete is "roughed".
