Default Service column lock ERROR, help! Can't move steering wheel.

I've tried everything. I've disconnected the battery, I've removed and checked fuse numbers 23 and 25.....both were in working condition.

I've shaken the steering wheel.............nothing works..........steering wheel is locked and won't budge.
Battery is brand new........

I don't know what else to do.
Can anyone help????

Is there any chance you have ahd the recall done and the K-harness installed? I had the same problem, was just about to give up and take it to the dealer. I then found that I had the K harness(I think that is what it was). I pulled it out and reconnected the original harness and the car was fine.

Does the car die if you try to drive it that way?

No fuel shutoff...........I can start the car just fine.............but cant turn the wheel at all.

this is messed up.

I have not had the recall done.
I also tried both of my keys.............nothing seems to work and the car is under the garage.
I hate to have it towed but it looks like I may have to, flatbed.

Hopefully someone will think of something to free it.

thanks guys.

Buy the column lock bypass. Install it , drive car. The fuel shut off only occurs at something like 5 MPH. If your steering is locked I doubt you tried to drive the car. Why haven't you installed the bypas already?

The acutator rod gets hung up in the lock column ie it binds because of tolerance mismatch...
REALLY yank, bang on the steering column while you have some one rock the car forward and back...
hopefully that get is to free up... other wise it's tow time.......

Couple things:

It's fuses #25 and 29. They need to be removed for at least one minute to clear the message. But first:

Clear the codes.
1) Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.

2) Press the "RESET" button to turn off any warning messages

3) Press and hold "OPTIONS"

4) While holding "OPTIONS", press "FUEL" four times within a 10-second period.

To reset the codes once in manual mode, press and hold "RESET" until it displays "NO CODES".

Now turn the key back off and remove it.

Remove the fuses and wait a few minutes and reinstall.

Rack the steering wheel hard stop to stop preferably left and back right, several times and on the last one hold it right side while you insert the key and turn it to ON.

If still nothing, start the engine and run it about 2000 rpms for a few minutes. Shut it off and repeat the process.

It should come unlocked.

Be sure to order the bypass, and you need to get it unlocked and working before you can install the bypass module. Call Corvettes of Houston and get it ordered because it will take a few days to get to you. Also remember they just had a hurricane so you may have trouble getting through.

Good luck.
