Not since 1963 has there been a true hardtop in the Corvette lineup. But, the best of it all is that its a hardtop with a trunk! The unique styling of this automobile sets it apart from the hatchbacks of the late 70s to present. This hardtop emits an aura that says, Dont mess with me.
The rear end of this Vette, sets it apart from any car built in the US or abroad. Motorists driving behind this phenomena, and gazing at the rear end, with center exhaust pipes and those wide, over 18 tires, gives the motorist a Class A view of the most incredible rear end on any car ever manufactured. Sitting in the cockpit and looking through the windshield gives you a real treat, with a smoothly designed hood to fender flair that slightly increases towards the end of the fenders. And, when the headlights are engaged, pulling the headlamp doors up, its sets you apart from any other sports car, and most definitely injects Corvette fever into your blood. Looking out over the hood and fenders, gives you a feeling of being a butterfly, but lookout, because this Vette looks like a butterfly, but stings like a bee.

I do mean butterfly.....it's a saying from the king of boxing Mohammed Ali, and what better saying can represent the Z06?
As for one of my few hero's of the time he was a conscientious objector due to his religious beliefs and moral standards. Many white "college boys" fled to Canada to hide from what is now seen as a questionable conflict at best, Ali struck to his convictions and paid the price...

And I still don't see a butterfly when I think of my Z, scalded dog maybe?

I am very familiar with the phrase and I believe it was his corner man Bundini Brown who actually coined it, finishing with "Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see.".

WELL SAID.
As far as the butterfly, I guess its my own perception. When you are sitting behind the wheel looking thru the windshield from the center of the hood outward, it has a curvature and grace of butterfly wings. I know the butterfly perception may not go well with some male egos, but I am just stating it as I see it. My own perception. I know one thing for sure, the C5 Z06 hardtop represents a new era of Corvette coming in, just like the '63 split window. That also was a new era for Corvette, bringing in a timeless bodystyle, new suspension (getting rid of the old straight axle suspension), and many more advancements. Same stands for the C5 with a better front to rear ratio balance, computerized, bringing the transmission to the rear, and rear upper and lower control arms, and advancement in small block technology. This C5 Z and the C2 are like fine bottles of wine that will only get better with age. I definitely see our Z06's holding their value and becoming a classic in their own era. I have never seen a Corvette hold it's value as well as the C5 Z06 , except for the C2, in the history of Corvettes, let alone any other American car. This bodystyle is timeless.

Quote from Cassius Clay (aka Ali):
"War is against the teachings of the Holy Qur'an. I'm not trying to dodge the draft. We are not supposed to take part in no wars unless declared by Allah or The Messenger. We don't take part in Christian wars or wars of any unbelievers." Ali also said in 1966: "I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet Cong ... They never called me ******."
He didn't have any trouble declaring war on both Black man and White man in the ring. He'd beat them to death if he could to win a match. Where does it state in the Qur'an the dollar figure that's sufficient to beat the hell out of someone? He rode the coat tails of honest hardworking people who protected the very freedoms he used to make his living.

And that is the beauty of this country, we can disagree on many things but stand united under one flag!
