Hello C5 brothers,
I love my 71 and hope to have it forever, but I wish it had some of the creature comforts that the C5s/C6s have. That being the case, I'm looking at a 2004, but the fella does not have the window sticker. How can he tell if he has the Z51 suspension without the sticker?

Also, is there a way he could obtain a copy of his original window sticker?

There is a sticker on the Glovebox door and on there the code Z51 will be in the mix of 3 digit codes.

I think you can buy the window sticker repo from the Corvette Musium online. Seems like $50 bucks or so. Maybe somewhere cheaper so you might do a search -window sticker- here and see if you get any info.

It will say Z51 on the glovebox door sticker.

If he wants the window sticker he can buy one from the National Corvette Museum. He will also need to buy the build sheet as they need that to populate the information on the window sticker.

One thing I did with each 'Vette I considered was to grab a digital photo of that glovebox sticker. Sellers looked at me sideways when that was the first thing I checked, but later at home I could compare options by looking up the codes on that glovebox sticker. Valuable info.

If you have no sticker I believe you can look under the belt and see if you have a power steering cooler, The Z51 came with that.

Thanks for the insight fellas. I'll shoot the owner an email about the glovebox and see what he can find. Still a little baffled as to why any Corvette owner would not keep the window sticker? I kept the sticker from my 2002 Suburban.

Some dealers didn't/don't leave the window sticker in vehicles for some reason. Sometimes they get lost during cleanup prior to delivery and a lot of people on other vehicles don't care. Whomever purchased this particular vette new may have indeed kept it (or is planning on keeping it) when they sold it to the next buyer as a keepsake. I have all the old window stickers that I have ever been given for a vehicle, I just kept them and no one has ever asked me if I had them. Of course none of them are for corvettes either. Just some possible reasons....
