Default Well Today...

I discovered you can run the diagnostics on the z06 while the car is on and moving. I have been having the dreaded "Low Fuel" P1416 code being thrown due to BAD GAS!!!!. Anyway i am on my first bottle of Techron additive and so far no codes as of today. This evening i will know for sure if the additive is really working. I really need to get rid of the gas in the tank and switch over to shell since chevron there is not a lot of chevron gas station in my area. Anyway i will report back as to if this P1416 code goes away after i use up the 2 remaining bottles.

You got a BP Amoco station on 301 try that. It works pretty good and use the Techron or I like Redline SL-1 fuel injection cleaner every 5K-8K. Great product. I have been using it since the 80's on my Grand National, and now Z06. I use to live in Upper Marlboro. Yeah you can check the diagnostics while driving just hard to shift and drive and push buttons huh?? Don

Ahhh, thanks, I was reading http://toptiergas.com/ yesterday and also read somewhere that BP carries the same gas as chevron. I will now switch over to BP for now and see what happens. Will it hurt if i switch to different additives or just stick to one?

Nothing wrong with Techron. If you like it and it's easy to get keep using. It does not hurt anything if you change the next time around. I use the Amsoil version now since I use their lube products anyway it's called PI. Where did you get the bad gas from?

I don't buy chevron because they deal with chavez in south america, my opinion only, I buy shell instead, another top tier gas.

I think you mean Citgo gas is owned by Chavez. Not to sure about Chevron.

Great website, surprised Mobil gas wasn't Top-tier

Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil is all I put in my high performance cars.

Here we have a convenience store chain called Quick Trip..........it's the only place I get gas from..........they have a guarentee that if their fuel causes you problems they will pay your repair bill and replace the tank of gas.
Not sure who their supplier is though.

The product mentioned above to help keep your fuel injectors clean is this:
AMSOIL Performance Improver

One bottle treats about a 20 gallon tank about once a month. I order it by the case and run a bottle through each of my vehicles about once a month.

I only run Shell in my car (no Chevron stations here). I use a bottle of Techron about every four tank full's and so far have had no issues.

Shipped is a strong word... but yes, I did get it. Sitting in my garage right now waiting for me to be able to get some time off and go to the track.

I think I'll stay in the Navy about 6-7 more years, so I broke down and bought the tow vehicle I really wanted while I had the income to pay for it. Goal is to have it paid off before I retire. Ended up with a GMC Sierra 3500HD, 6.6L Duramax, dually and fully loaded. Sprinted across the country in it and brought my car home myself. Had a nice relaxing few days doing it.

I was wondering if you had someone do it for you. Wow big purchase for the truck/trailer thing. You can travel in style now. I hope you get track time this year. Take care, Don

In my experience, "bad gas" usually means that it had water in it. You might want to try adding a can or two of dry gas to your gas tank at the next fill-up to absorb any water that might be sitting in the bottom of the tank. Techron will help clean the injectors, but won't do anything about the water in the tank. Dry gas won't hurt if there is little or no water in there, but if there is, if will bind it and get it out of the tank as you run it down.

Just a thought.

I just filled mine up today at the Shell station in town where I always buy from. I noticed the pump I was at did not have a hose for midgrade. I looked around at the approximately 20 pumps and there is no hose come from any of the midgrades. I also noticed that they are now selling 10% ethanol. I guess I will moving up one exit and buying from the BP from now on. It is getting to the point I have no choice in what I want to buy. Exxon is 10%, Shell is 10%, the station that sells the really cheap gas are all stations I will not buy from. Don't let me down BP.
