Brake Fluid ????
OK Guys , Last week I learned NOT to use Silicone Brake Fluid. So today I went to buy DOT #3 . Now I see the auto parts store carries Three different brands of SYNTETIC fluid and one of regular. My question is ....should I use the regular or the Synietic? Your advice PLEASE. I have a 98 C5. Wayne Pec

The book says:
Delco Supreme 11 Brake Fluid (GM Part No. 12377967 or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid).

I know , or think I know that in 1998 DOT#3 was the only choice. But today is the Synthetic a better choice?

Put in Valvoline SYN Power. Meets or exceeds DOT 3 & 4 and compatible with conventional bf.

Thats my concern,COMPATIBLITY. On the bottle it just says ADD according to mfg specs. But what is the long term effect? Or is there one?.... I plan on doing a complete change,......if there is such a thing.

I switched out as much as I could. The fact that Valvoline SYN is compatible with conventional brake fluid tells you that any oe fluid left in the system is O.K.

Some info regarding DOT 4 fliuds here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...+4+brake+fluid .
I use the ATE Blue and ATE Gold. Reasonable priced, and good wet boiling point. The downside is you won't find it at the local autoparts store.

Sweet,
Having my brake fluid bled when the SS brake lines, rotors,
calipers,well you get the picture,the whole nine-yards.
The right topic always comes up at the right time.
Val Syn Power sounds like a winner,I'll be stopping
at the Zone for a few bottles.
