Default Compression ration question.. ?

I have a 98 vert with the stock ls1,except a honker intake. I would like to start with a nice set of heads but have a quick question. What compression ratio would I be at with a set of heads that have a 59cc combustion chamber? The stock compression is 9:1 right?

Thanks

so 59cc would put me at 11:1 ration. Any ideas what kind of gain I would be looking at with just the Honker and a set of AFR 205 59cc and a dyno tune? I know I couldnt expect much with the stock manifold and exhaust but Im curious. I have already installed a set of 390s in the rear and I love it!

The AFR heads are awesome but why not install a cam as well? I know it adds up quick but the LS1 manifold will be holding the setup back also.

I did it step by step and now im in the process of a new build and im trying not to hold anything back. That said, If you can save your money and get it all at once, that would probably be best.

If your on a budget, I would go the cam only over the heads only.

A cam would be a short 2nd on the list.. I would like to build a mild NA car that I can drive daily. I would like to install these items myself and save as much as possible but dont want to cut corners either.

Ofcourse after that a FAST 90/90 would follow along with a set of LGM pros or American racing headers. Like you said though, probably better off doing it all at once. Might just have to go with an LS3 crate then, close to the same price as a built ls1 but new and almost the same hp. The LS7 looks appetizing too

The car is fast enough to get me introuble as it is, guess Ill start with the minor mods for now and see where it leads.

You'd be wise to stay on the conservative side for a driver. Mine is running 11.5:1 ratio, and it's getting harder to find pump gas that is worth a crap to run in it. It doesn't like 10% ethanol mix or octane lower than 94 (pings/knocks like crazy). Sunoco is the only local station that sells 94, and it's now a mix. I'd recommend keeping it to 11:1 or less. You can still get good power with a mild heads & cam package. This gas thing aint gonna get any better.
