Default service column lock message

Ok boys, how do I solve this issue at home without taking it to a dealer??? I charged the battery this afternoon and was going to take my first cruise of 2008 but car goes 1.5 mph and fuel shuts off!!! I think I caused the problem by pulling the key half way out to shut off chime while batt was charging! Stupid!!!
Thanks for any help!!

Check with your local dealer I think the final recall notice is up soon.

I don't see how removing the key from the ignition could cause this problem. Most likely, if you have the Harness K kit installed in your car from a recall, the relay has failed. You will need to replace the Harness K relay, or remove it and replace it with an aftermarket CLB relay.

The fuel is being cut off because the BCM is not getting the correct signal to tell it that the column is not locked.
If your column lock actuator still works, you can remove the Harness K and reconnect the actuator in the stock configuration. IF the car drives normally, the relay is the problem.

How can I tell if the car has the the recall fix or is stock? I think it's probably stock, bought it in 06 with 7k on it, only 11 k now. Is there a way to get it to run so I can drive it to the dealer???
Thanks

Tried that, also cleared some codes, pulled fuses #25-29 for 20 min and reinstalled. Same thing, Service Column Lock

Do not take it to the dealer. The fixes that Chevy has come up with for this problem are all worthless. If you do not get the technical assisitance to fix it here on the ZO6 forum post in C5 tech and one of the experts there will tell you how to fix it. Everyone here who does not have a CLB should get one and install it.

I had the same problem with mine. Had the dealer do the k-harness but the problem came back soon after. I ended up ordering an aftermarket bypass kit and haven't had a problem since.
