Default Nitrious questions

Im looking at getting a nitrious kit for my vette. I only want around a 50 shot just to make sure that nothing goes wrong. First question is after i get the nitrious installed do i have to get the car retuned? I recently had a 112 lsa cam put in is that to much lobe seperation for the nitious to be effective? Where can i purchase such a kit. Is it a diy install or a shop install.

I can read instructions and turn a wrench, that's about it. I picked up a dry kit from a forum member a couple years ago and have put about 18-20 bottles through it. I went straight to a 125 shot pill, and never worried about tuning it. Since it's never used for more than five to ten seconds at a time I just crossed my fingers that it would hold up. I told myself that if anything went bad it would be a great excuse to put in a forged engine and really build up a monster.

I recently picked up a used turbo kit now, and am 50% of the way through installing it in my garage. I won't be driving it without a tune, but unless you're looking to really use your bottle a lot, like at the strip... I don't know if you'd need to have it tuned.

And it's fine to try the 50 first, but you'll quickly pull it out

A LS1 can take 125hp without any problems. As for the tune anytime you run nitrous it's best to retard your timing. I would retard the timing by 2% - 4% with 50hp but if you go 100-125 hp I would retard it 4% - 6%. Nitrous does not like preignition.

Especially since your timing is advanced with that cam.

can it still handle it even though its already at 424 rwhp with the head and cam package? Do you retard your timing by retuneing?

take out 2 deg for every 50 hp and change your injectors after a 100 shot if you have a 00 and below

you can either retard in a new tune or just get a timing tuner or do a resistor mod in the IAC. search ls1tech in the nitrous section and most of your questions will be answered

Also, if you are using EFILIVE then you can go to COS5 and dual tune the car. One for NA and the second can switch with the nitrous arm to a n20 tune
