Battery Tender - Hookup to Battery
I would like to hook up a battery tender to the battery in my 69 coupe.
I see that a 12V Cigarette plug adapter is available that allows you to charge and maintain the battery directly from the vehicle's lighter socket - instead of connecting a charger lug harness with quick disconnect plug, to the battery terminals.
Can anyone tell me if the Cigarette plug adapter device will work in a 69coupe? That is, is the cigarette plug socket energized with the key off? If so, any drawbacks to this method?
Thanks,
Mordi

Wouldn't the cigarette lighter question best be asked in the earlier Corvette forum?
The only drawbacks to using the interior source vs the direct connection to the battery would be that you have to leave a window down slightly for the power cord and if you leave the float maintenance charger inside the car, keep in mind it does get a little warm.
I only use BATTERY TENDER PLUS chargers, but I've always hooked them directly up to the battery and run the leads out so I can close the hood and use the cover.

I would only use a good make float charger hooked directly to the battery. I don't think going through the electrical system via the cig lighter is really going to be of any real benefit. I'd also ask in the C-3 section to see if anyone else with a early C-3 has done this. IMHO
