Default C5 JAKE BATTERY COVER (with a little something extra)

I've been wanting to build myself a battery cover, after seeing some of the efforts on the forum, and I happened upon a plastics shop a couple days ago so I bought some clear acrylic and got to work.

I decided to put a JAKE emblem on it, similar to one done by GMANS C5, with the only difference being I made a C5 version and he did a C6. Props to him for making the template available in his thread.

I didn't want to completely copy everybody else, so I put my own spin on it with a little GLOW factor. Check it out.

I've got it wired up to the underhood light, so it only stays on as long as that light does. (thanks to tstar for tips on getting that done)

Experimenting with placement of the LED assembly

I may end up adding another LED strip, and/or a silver plate on top of the battery itself.

What does it look like when the light goes out? Can you see the battery through the plexiglas? Pics?

You can see the battery. The first pic was taken in my garage, but with the door open and that's pretty close to how it looks without the LED's on. The rest of the pics are with the garage door closed, so closer to how it will look at night.

Now that I've got it finished, I'm thinking of adding another battery cover...I've seen ones that are simple painted pieces that sit right on the battery...paint it silver to match the top cover...and maybe put jake on that instead of on the outer cover.

Crap, now I have to go make more stuff.

I would keep this one for awhile as I like the LEDs to make the Jake stand out

Looks cool! (and thanks for the props) Have you condsidered making another peice that would go underneath the clear portion? Maybe a smoked colored piece or something that would still reflect the leds under neath and light up, but hide the battery and the led wires when the lights go out... That could look cool..

Turned out great Rick!!!! I would try and Haze the underside of the clear portion with sandpaper and add another LED strip. The effect is probably waht you want to achieve, and you won't have to make anything else!

Great job!

I kinda like the see through effect, but Tim's suggestion below would look pretty cool too. Might have to do some experimenting and see which I like better. Pretty sure I'll add another LED strip to get things evenly lit. So many projects, so little time.

Nice work, when does the first production run start? Looks a bit like a "flux capacitor" in there.
