C5 JAKE BATTERY COVER (with a little something extra)
I've been wanting to build myself a battery cover, after seeing some of the efforts on the forum, and I happened upon a plastics shop a couple days ago so I bought some clear acrylic and got to work.
I decided to put a JAKE emblem on it, similar to one done by GMANS C5, with the only difference being I made a C5 version and he did a C6. Props to him for making the template available in his thread.
I didn't want to completely copy everybody else, so I put my own spin on it with a little GLOW factor. Check it out.
I've got it wired up to the underhood light, so it only stays on as long as that light does. (thanks to tstar for tips on getting that done)
Experimenting with placement of the LED assembly
I may end up adding another LED strip, and/or a silver plate on top of the battery itself.

Now that I've got it finished, I'm thinking of adding another battery cover...I've seen ones that are simple painted pieces that sit right on the battery...paint it silver to match the top cover...and maybe put jake on that instead of on the outer cover.
Crap, now I have to go make more stuff.

Looks cool! (and thanks for the props) Have you condsidered making another peice that would go underneath the clear portion? Maybe a smoked colored piece or something that would still reflect the leds under neath and light up, but hide the battery and the led wires when the lights go out... That could look cool..

Turned out great Rick!!!! I would try and Haze the underside of the clear portion with sandpaper and add another LED strip. The effect is probably waht you want to achieve, and you won't have to make anything else!
Great job!

Nice work, when does the first production run start? Looks a bit like a "flux capacitor" in there.
