[QUOTE=The NNIAL8R;1566653457]Anything that hangs that low wouldnt last a day in my city...The dips are killers....Id shred that flimsy thing off pulling into my driveway...I have to go real slow through the dips in my SSR to keep from ripping the front plate off of it...

I run personalized plates on all my stuff...so I dont mind running a front plate....It's the law here...and believe me, I couldnt get away with not running one...
QUOTE]

I agree. Anything under the bumper is just something else to drag.
I put my front plate on with the factory trim years ago, and never looked back. I also have PLP, so no big deal.
At least the C5s have a recess designed to mount the plate. C6s are a little more complicated.

These brackets are a cool solution for C6 owners...I have one on my C6Z...The C6Z mounts off to the side so as to not interfere with air flow for the monster 427....Standard C6 coupe and convertible mounts dead center.....

Mike is partially right, it works perfect, my problem was reloading my Vette on our trailer Here is what happened, I needed to move 2 inches and at times slipping a twin disk clutch works and some times is moves about 6 inches, this is what happened and the plate hit the edge of the trailers metal railing and off popped the plate When I put her on the lift next time we will put it back on and those that do not put there Vette on a trailer with a twin disk clutch will have zero issues

They are a nice option to not having one in the official plate area

I'd say YES to it!

I will probably need to get one one day if the LEO ask me too with a ticket

Thanks,Matt

Default Wtf????

" problem is the bubble is now illegal here in Illinois"

You mean to say that not only are you required to have a frt plate,
but you cannot have a cover on it in Illinois?

I would like to know what STUPID bit of Freudian logic was used
for that determination!

FLAME ON for very stupid, overbearing laws that serve no good
purpose other than to annoy the population.

I hope they don't find out about this in Wa State any time soon.

Why would you want a hide-away plate when you have to display it anyway? The standard front plate doesn't look all that bad to me. Especially if you paint the mounting shroud to match your paint color (same with back plate shroud). That hide-away looks funky.

So lets say you get stopped. $40 by the time it's all said and done. Zero points. Doesn't go on your record. You spent $20 a year on a "no plate tax" haha. That's $1.67 a month. Less than five and a half cents a day to not have a front plate. The longer you get away with it, the cheaper it becomes. I say keep pushing your luck.

Great opinions so far, thanks corvette family! Intially, when I first ordered it, I was going to leave the plate displayed and tuck it away when I parked....I know is sounds lame. But just knowing that I can hide it and still have a normal looking bumper made it seem okay with me. But after reading your opnions I'm still thinking about it...I'll wait for a few more responses and I'll decide later. Besides, it's fun to hear all your opinions

If my state (PA) changes the law or I move, I'll have no other option but one of these as I filled in my stock front license area.

I converted from a Coupe to a Hardtop and had ACP put on a Stealth WideBody kit along with MCM Hood, Specter Werkes C5R Lights and some addtional custom work by ACP on the body panels.

I shaved off the front corvette plate and the one in the rear too. Also have some velocity yellow accents going on the hood and rear fascia.

Nay. Either no plate or plate in the stock location with a painted frame to help it blend into the front end.

If it's the law, comply. If you're a fireman, you can probably get away with a warning.

As a former street cop I can tell you that if you get stopped for no front license plate then the cop is one of 2 types. He is using the violation for probable cause and looking for warrants or something else which they normally wouldn't do to a vette or other nice more expensive car.

Or, he is **** about that law and already knows you are going to get a ticket when he stops you. If you get stopped for it and use the excuse of you forgot.....your almost assured to get a ticket anyway.

As far as registering out of state, most if not all states have a law covering that and then you'll get a ticket for not registering where you live.

The states that regulate no covering of the plate do it because of gadgets people try using to throw off the lasers.

Good news is most cops really could care less about the front license plate and that's why most of us never even get stopped for it. I did stop cars for it but that was the gang bangers and drug dealers. I never wrote a ticket for it.
