Default Who has drilled out around their foglights to let more air in?

I am looking at replacing my LP insert with a screen and cutting out behind it to reduce engine compartment hear from my s/c. I might do something around the fog lights and screen them as well. I have seen custom inserts that drop in, but for those who built their own screens and velcroed or glued them in, how much did you carve out? Still want to keep the fog lamps useable. Anyone have pics of the new orifice?

Even with a heat extractor hood, the Stage 1 Procharger barbecues in it's own heat so anything that aids the airflow through has to be a plus.

I did it about 2 years ago. I made a cardboard template, laid out the holes(1 1/4"), drilled out one side, flipped the template over and did the other side. Cleaned up the holes with a razor knife.

I thought about that but can it really be much worse? Right now the car is sucking dirt right off the pavement. With everything screened it still won't have as much face as a car with a conventional rad.
I am not too concerned about a little extra dirt, but I'm also not interested in doing the cutting for negligible benefit. The license plate thing I know will work but the total area around the fog lamps isn't great. On the other hand the passenger side one is almost right at the Procharger air intake and the blower makes that corner of the engine compartment the hottest.

I cut out the entire plastic around the fog lights and put on the Z06 style mesh screens about 6 months ago. There is no more dirt in the engine bay than before, and you cant even see the hole with the screens in place.

Can't post a pick but all I did was get out a 1 inch wood bore bit and my drill. Located only a single hole in the inside most corner of the fog light shroud. Didn't feel any need for a bunch of holes as when you're literally forcing air into the shroud area as you're driving one hole is about as good as a bunch plus it is very unobtrusive visually.

I also drilled several holes in mine. Instead of using the ZO6 mesh screens, I attached black screen material to the back side of the holes. So far, I haven't noticed any difference in the amount of dirt in the engine compartment.

I am not sure you can expect any change in a car other than preventing the drop in performance when the engine compartment heats up. It is a lot more pronounced issue on FI cars, but I honestly don't expect any improvement on a cool engine.

If no improvement in performance, why bother? What's the benefit?
