Any updates on fuel gauge problems? On 1997 Corvette do you have to take tanks of to replace sending units? If I replace units will this solve problem?Read that you can replace units by taking rear wheels of?Any ideas?
First thing to try if you haveen't already done it is to run a few bottles of techron through the tank. In most cases that fixes the problem without changing the sensors.
If all fails you can change the sensor with the tank in place.

with DeeGee. I had a sticky fuel gage and after a few bottles of Techron, problem solved. Chevron fuel only for now on.

Thanks for the tip. I've got the same problem.
I'm off for a bottle of Techron. Will let you know how it works, and if it does, I'll hoist a Watney's in your name.
Cheers.
Thanks for reply, from P.E.I.,Canada had to order Techron can't buy it here.Good to know that I can change sensors without removing tanks. Will wait untill I get Techron. This is 3rd Corvette 1972,1981 now a 1997 by far the best.Bought it in Rhode Island drove it home about 900 miles no problems.(just gas gauge)Real comfortable to drive.About 28 mph on way home. Thanks again.
If you don't have the problem, I wouldn't worry about it. You can throw a bottle through if you like. It isn't the cars that have the problem, but the type of fuel you use. Fuels with a high sulfur content tend to coat the resistors that the float reads, which then make the gage ineffective.

I hae the same problem in Enland as Techron is a known fix in the US but I cant' get it here. You could try any other fuel system cleaner. As Riley P says, the glitch is caused by sulfur build up on the sensors so in theory any cleaner should shift it.
Don't have an issue that I'm aware of with my fuel guage, but was wondering if this Techron product could be used as a preventative?
What is it? Where do get it? And what does it do?
Mine is an 01. Don't know if they have that problem or not.
All C5s have the problem. Techron i available from any auto store (Autozone carries it) and is about $7 a bottle. Its worth that for preventative maintenance in my view. It certainly doesn't harm the engine so I'd drop a bottle in as a precaution

do you have Sea Foam products available in Canada? It can be found in many auto parts stores in the US as well as marine outlets. it can be used in place of Techron. I use it every other fill up and the sensor problem hasn't returned.
