Technically..anything will fit...(youll loose adjustability etc..) but the Fighter is a fairly wide seat....the vette cockpit only provides ~18in at the rear of the cockpit...
Some people have used EVOS..and Corbeau A4's...they require aftermarket rails to mount to the car
Caravaggio $$$$ and Arzien Racing Seats $$ are the only true drop seats in that Im aware of if your waist is any larger than 34 inches...its gonna be tight

The Sparco Fighter fits fine in a C5.
I was going to go that route after sitting in one at an HPDE but got a hot deal on a Corbeau FX1 and a FX1 Pro and went that way.

You can make lots of different seats fit with slight modifications. I mated these to my original tracks so I still have full function of movement. The set I had before I had to trim pieces in the car to make them go back all the way but it was easy to do. I hope to order Caravaggio this winter becasue I like the look of them better.

I think the jist is that yes.you can mount them in the car...BUT you will not have the same flexabiliy in adjustment
Call Mark over at Arzien Racing Seats... a set of two seats I think are about 1600 bucks...and they'll fit the stock tracks and give you full flexabilty

It is pretty easy to modify your original sliders with power to almost any aftermarket seat. I used a cut off wheel to remove the studs, Use a good steel bit and drill new mount holes and go for it. I had a set of bottom mount and now side mount seats on my original rails and have had no problems. Just be sure to use high grade bolts and thread lock.

The ones in my car are side mount and I only used the side mounts I never used the sliders that came with them. I drilled holes in my corvette sliders/ brackets and matched them up to the bottom holes in the seat side mounts. I could try to take a few up close pics if you `d like. If you look in the pic you can see the swith for the seat movement.
