I just took a trip from Florida to Niagara Falls and back (approx. 2500 miles with detours), averaged 27 mpg over the trip. I ran 70+ most of the time.
I get 30 plus with 475 RWHP. Its a magnacharger on lg long tubes racing cats no mufflers and a stage 2 cam with a Vararam 3.43 rear 6 speed 6th gear 1500 rpm. South Florida is mostly flat though.
I just cracks me up when some other manufacturers boast about the mileage of their mini SuV's at 24 mpg like it is some sort of Earth-saving advantage....And I'll bet they are still exaggerating.
And my 350+ HP sports car averages 28.4 MPG on a road trip....no...not just the computer claiming this....actual calculations.
We are "green" without even trying and others speak out of ignorance.

Ummmm..... you're missing 2, maybe 3 cylinders I think
Here's some numbers I collected on my 2001 A4 3.15 Coupe
60 MPH 30.6 MPG W/O AC
70 MPH 28 MPG W/O AC
70 MPH 27.6 MPG W AC
70 MPH 29 MPG W/O AC
all above on premium
70 MPH 25 MPG on plus W AC
All here in mostly flat Oklahoma and Kansas.
DocOhm
I wish I got your numbers, Doc. May I ask if you have any mods on your ride? It occurs to me that some respondents here might get the great mileage figs just by replacing the intake and exhaust. My '04 A4 3.15 is bone stock, and all I can eke out is 25 mpg on premium.
The wifes 98 averages around 26 mpg.
Keep those Foreign sedans. Where else are you going to get Great mpg,and Great performance all wrapped up in one of the worlds most Beautiful Sports Car?
Weve got the best of both worlds
29.8 Pittsburgh to Washington DC (there is a mountain in the way) with a 2000 A4 3.15 at 70MPH cruise control. I think I had 91 gas it in, but it could have been 89, I am not 100% sure.
Anyone getting 30+ MPG on the highway at 70 mph with a4 and 3:15s without mods? I gotta figure out why I'm only getting 25 on my bone stock '04 with 18,000 miles.
2000 FRC here,,When I behave myself I can get 20 to 23 In town actual calculated (DIC is a little more optimistic). A trip from St.Louis area to Atlanta,2 adults, luggage, and a little A/C,the Smoky Mts. and Hauling A$$ in Georgia(you better be moving or you get run over the closer you get to Atlanta 90+ not unusual).1,100 total and overall average,,just under 30 calculated!!! The kicker is the wife thinks this the best travel ride we've ever had!!! Last spring I clicked off a 13.08/110.23,,,this and 30 mpg,,,gotta love these cars.. Never fail to tell someone about all this(performance AND the economy) of these cars, when I get the chance.Got a lot of people thinking differently now, when they find out they are affordable to by AND operate!!!

I got 31 miles to gallon MANUALLY CALCULATED on my trip back from NH to Ohio when I bought mine. Computer showed 33.5. Currently it's showing around 16 with city driving and me NOT being so light on the go pedal.
I average 16-18 overall which is about 10 miles of city and 30 miles on freeway everyday. If I reset it on the freeway, it averages max 20 mpg. The max I ever got was on a trip to the coast - about 120 miles and averaged 24.6.
2002 C5 vert - K&N filter and Borla exhaust - thats all the mods it has. Grrrr ..
