FYI I tried a heavier weight synthetic when my car was about a year old I don;t remember the weight 10w 40 or 20 50 but it used about a quart between chaanges went back to 10 30 no more oil use, just another reason to stick with the factory chit , don 't know why ,low tens. oil rings???? anyway when Chevrolet speaks its best to listen oil, lubrication I'm sure chev. engineers gave just a little bit of thought about oil

I buy Mobil 1 5-30 by the gallon and use it in everything, ive never had a lubrication caused issue. I live in FL and it gets baked in the summer and froze int he winter.
The General knows what he's talking about.
I will gladly give you your 15 bucks if you want to "slide" on the deal..
or should i say "get a grip"
or maybe "dont let this deal "slide" away
sorry, its a gift

I'm not sure if you're kidding or serious, but I just wanted to point out that when you mix two viscosities of oils you don't necessarily get an oil that's the middle of the two. If you mix 5w30 and 10w30 you'll most likely end up with an oil that would still technically be a 10w30, as it's cold cranking specs would probably not allow it to pass the more stringent tests to qualify as a 5w oil.
