......until you run over some piece of crap in the road, 50 miles from nowhere, and have no spare tire......Yeah, you have a cell phone and a "AAA" card, but who wants to wait forever for a tow truck to arrive.
Need opinions guys!!
Looking at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus Run Flat tires as a replacement for my '99 coupe.
Anybody have them and if so, what's your opinion? A lot cheaper than the Goodyears with a longer tread life rating. $900. (4 all four) shipped!
I went from Goodyear to Michelin... have a better ride less noise. I understand they do not perform under zero pressure as well as the Goodyear because Goodyear has a thicker sidewall thus the harder ride... but I would not have the car without runflats.... period. SImply because I drive it everyday. If it was a weekend car or a garage queen... then I would put something on besides a RF.

Have not had the Michelin tires, but I've heard they are good tires. I did have a set of the Firestone Firehawks and was extremely pleased with them...
I've heard/read good things about the Michelin's.
I love my Firehawks.
They're sporty enough ( and relatively quiet) for daily driving duties with the added peace of mind that when the wife drives it she won't be stuck on the side of the road.
I'll be picking up a set of rims and non-run flat tires this summer for SCCA days with my son, but I'll always travel on the run-flats...
Have em...love em Wouldnt go with a non RF due to how I use the car (long unexpected trips). I think they handle/perform very well, even during spirited driving.
I've no experience of the latest Pilot Sport AS ZPs. I have thwe original AS ZPs and they are a massive improvement over stck. they are way quieter and handle much better in the poorer weather here in England
If you don't need the all season performance there may be tires that are even better.
For RFs the AS ZPs are about the best as far as I can see.
Thanks for the tip. I've bought my last two sets there, but paid substanially more than that. Wonder why they've dropped the price this far? Could it be because of the new version they've come out with?

How is the traction/acceleration issue with a new set of these Michelins on dry pavement? The GY tires that came on the 03 I just bought are hard and don't like the pedel matted to the floor from a dead stop or a 20 mph kick. I have no idea how old the GY's are but they are very prone to "bust" loose!

I bought my Michelins from DTD two years ago, and even with a rebate, I seem to recall that the set cost me around $1100.
I have had 2 sets of the Pilot Sport runflats. The first set wore uneven in the rear the middle wore out and I still had half the tread left on the edges. I kept them at 30 PSI and was told that the pressure was to high (manual calls for 30 cold but what do I know) 2nd set I kept at 28 in the rear and had the same end result. I now have Firestone runflats and have been really happy these are 18 and 19" due to the new rims. I know I'm not the only one who has had problems with the Michelin in the rears., but either brand IMO is better than the Goodyears

My rear tire wear experience was the same. I have been told that the new Michelins address that issue. I sure hope so.
