The Factory Service Manual (FSM) set is really what you want. These books are the same ones that are available to techs at Chevy dealers. While they are written for professional repair techs, they do work great for those of us that want to do our own work.

The Chilton and Hayne's books are pretty generic while the FSM's are year specific and get into some very good detailed information where the Chilton or Hayne's books are not that specific and may even have errors.

Try the C5 Parts For Sale section for FSM's. They come up from time to time and nothing says you have to buy brand new books from Helm. Also try eBay or your local Craigslist.

There is a set of 1999 manuals under C5 parts about 4 pages back - time stamp 1-12-15 at 650 PM - not sure of your year.

What year car do you have?

$135.00 shipped.

PM me if interested.

Jim - I have a 2001 and 2004 car and only the 2001 manuals. 2001, 2 or 3 will cover 99.5% of what you need. I'd jump on anything 2001 or newer in the $100's.

I agree with finding a good used set here on the forum - you can save a ton of money by doing so. The prices for a new set has gotten .

I was like you....didn't want to spend a pile of money. I put a post on "Wanted to Buy". Forum member got back to me with a three volume set....they weren't pretty, a little dirty with messed up covers, but $80 shipped....they are exactly what I wanted and I wouldn't consider anything other than a factory manual with my messed up Y2K.

I'd be interested in a set for a 2004 myself. Was just talking about this earlier today with my mechanic.

I have an electronic version of 2004. It does not cover everything but probably 95% or more and probably has all you need and the Forum can help with what it may not have. It has all the major components and schematics

Just PM me and I will ship a copy to you.

Here is a free online version of a C-5 manual
Try this site. I followed the instructions that were posted here and used PeaZip to extract the files. The bottom picture has the service manual and the next picture has the parts list. Its 636 mb.
They are hidden behind the dog pictures.

It might help you

These are not complete for any year but the info that is there appears to be correct.
