Default Tire Pressure sensor won't fit my new wheels!!!!!

Well I just got my new OE deep dish wheels from OE wheels in Sarasota Florida. Weeks before I bought these wheels they stated on the phone and on their auction that the wheels would work with the older style TPS (99). Well after a trip back from the tire shop they do not fit. Not even close. The inside where the valve stem goes is tapered so that the TPS stem is not long enough to seat. I will post pictures asap.

I am looking for options! I can't run non-run flats without a spare and no tps. It is a safety issue for me.

let me know if anyone ever banded their tps to the inside of the rim.

According to OE they have never had any issues with the older style not fitting so I am going to E-mail them pictures of the seat.

Your input is needed here
Thanks
Fireman591

STOCK HOLE

Stock hole

Stock wheel with sensor

New wheel hole (note depth of taper)

3 of the wheels have smooth bases in the taper and one is ribbed. WTF!!!

this is a picture of the 18 inch rim with the sensor mounted

This is a shot of the 18 with the sensor close. See the problem. The mating surface for the o-ring is to deep inside the hole and at the wrong angle

the 17's look like they could work with a extra washer and a big o-ring

18" taper

17" taper (they are different and at different angles)

Yes you can band them to the center of the wheel without any problems, that is until you try to train them.
Nice looking wheels there BTW.

Metal bands might interfere with the radio signal given off by the TPS. One option is to JB Weld them to the rims. Another is to find zip ties long enough to go around the wheel and the sensor.
Let us know what you find out.

I have a huge magnet and was able to train them through the rim. The only bad thing is if I ever have to relearn them I have to take the wheels off to retrain. Not a big deal but a pain to say the least

This is what will do the trick. Mine are banded in my CCWs. I wish this was available when I did mine.

Just use the straight one. mount it in your wheel then mount your TPS into it.

Trick.

Mine are banded no prob. Also you can train them before you install them. Makes life easier as I had to use a very large magnet with them installed.

What did you use for banding and where did you buy it from?
Thanks a bunch

Maybe the gave you wheels made fo the 2001+ which use different sensors. Never seen those sensors but the one's in a later pic here are different than the 99-2000. Might check on the wheels first if you haven't already. Good luck

There are a couple of companies that sell bands for TPMS

The IForged TPS adaptors are not compatable for all aftermarket wheels. Specs of the wheels submitted to any IForged vendor will be a good idea before you make the 80.00 purchase

What do you think of these kits?

http://www.revolutionsupply.com/(S(p.../strapkit.aspx

Also, Since I am sure I am SOL on returning the wheels, Would it be fair to ask OE to pay for half the cost of the band adapters? Looks like $35.00 would be half from the websites I have seen.
Is that to much to ask or am I wasting my time?

They did say they would fit with no TPS issues

If they did indeed say they would fit then I would ask for half or all of the cost of adaptors or band connectors.
I for one, as a supporting vendor would do the right thing and front the cash for the items

Has anyone ever tried glueing there tps to the rim and then going around it with a industrial sized plastic zip tie?

$60.00 for 4 bands is a joke

That might work but if one comes loose it will make $60 look cheap in hind sight. I'd get the wheel vendor to pay for them.
