What exactly is a trunk lid liner?
where does it go? is it only for a z06?

It looks like it will attach, forgiving any perceived sarcasm, to the inside of the trunk lid of a Z06. The C5 Z06 has the small rectangular trunk, as opposed to the full hatch of the standard C5 model (where the whole back window and trunk opens). So yes, I think that would make it for the C5 Z06 only. The notched out area of it would be where the latch assemble is. Sorry, I would attach a photo, but my C5 Z06 is in surgery now to get it ready for the track.
Edit: note too that I am saying *C5* Z06, as the C6 Z06 changed to the hatch style trunk as well.

That thing is for if you just have to spend money on your car but you already have all the other useless trinkets.
Also if the two Z06 fender emblems, two Z06 headrest emblems, one Z06 guage cluster emblem, two Z06 floor mat emblems, one Z06 partition emblem, two Z06 closeout panel emblems, one Z06 throttle body emblem, one Z06 console armrest emblem, one Z06 exhaust plate, and a Z06 specific vanity plate just are not enough to let the world know your car is not just a run of the mill Corvette, it's a Z06, you can get this thing. Then when you open the truck, the will know you have a Z06.

I'll join in here. If it was smaller, it looke like one of the small shiels delivered with luxury cars a few years ago to block the sun between the visors, behind the mirror. Seriously!

Actually they come with a few different logos and it also fits the convertible trunk lid, which is the same as a Z lid. I had incurred some marks on the inside of my trunk lid so I installed one of those liners. In my opinion, it does make it look more finished, except they do have a tendency to fall off. I got four of those OEM-type push in fasteners with the tooth edges and carefully installed them inot the trunk lid. They make the liner fit in better and it never falls off anymore.
