Since the car is laid up for the winter and you have not tried to start it you dont know if the battery is dead or not since no charger is being used.
I would disconnect the battery and see if the hum goes away. Then you will know if it is electrical.
I am really curious about this one.
I went out there again tonight with a cardboard tube stethascope.
When i first got in and shut the door, i could hear it. It lasted a short time and then quit. The interior lights are on a timer, but that shouldn't hum....When it warms up a little bit around here, i'll look into it more. I quit drinkin beer, so it cant be that, maybe i'm just going
OK, i went back out to the garage last night to listen for the humming.
I got in the car, shut the door and i could hear the faint humming.
When the dash lights and the floor lights timed out the humming quit, so it's gotta be the interior lights timer.
Ya know, i don't know if it is or not....i don't recall hearing any chime.
Like i said, i just bought the car. Is there some kind of chime on a 2001?
dang it...now you got me wondering...we're in the middle of a blizzard,
so it'll have to wait. I MUST have heard a chime...

I think there is a chime - I am wondering if maybe it is hosed, and that it is huming instead of chiming. Sorry you're having more weather up there - down here in Rochester we're only gettting rain. That's why I live in the tropical part of MN...
