Think The Value Of the C5 Will Ever Go Back Up??
#103
Our cars seem to have taken a nose dive in value over the last 1.5 years or so. Do you think they'll ever go back up? I mean, its nothing to find a low low mileage (around 30ish thou) C5 for $15,000 or so in good shape. With everything going on with American manufacturers, do you think our cars are going to continue to depreciate, or possibly go back up?

I've been surfing through the for sale C5s lately and I was just going to say prices seem higher now than I've seen them in a while. '01 and newer models with low miles seem to be priced well into the 20s, which I think is high...I probably wouldn't pay more than $20K for ANY C5 regardless of year, mileage or condition...

Also Hagerty has excellent charts on collector car values. Lastly, NADA or blue book values charted over time.

EXACTLY. When I was shopping for my Z06, EVERYONE was asking high. Dealers would not come down on price at all. I went with a private sale and got more for my money.

Cruising
As someone who has been looking to buy over the last couple years, my view is that actual sale prices have been coming down while asking prices remain (unrealistically) high.
When I started looking, an "average" mid-year C5 was selling in the mid-high teens, with the lower mileage cars in the low-mid 20s. Now that price for the average cars is in the 11-13 range and the lower mileage cars are 17-20.
I frequently see 97-99s or high mileage 01-04s in the 6-9k range today, too.
IMHO a buyer's market for certain.
