cut outs
Has anyone installed cut outs on their exhaust system? I will be purchasing GHL's in the fall and ran across the idea of adding cut outs and was wondering if it is worth the money and trouble to have it done?
Anyone with any thoughts, pro or con, please shoot them back to me please.
i have them. Not electric ones though as they jsut fail it seems. They are welded into the Xpipe, and make a sound to catback can replicate. good for the track....here is a sound clip of mine with them off

I think on this site I saw a picture of a Vette with the exhaust coming out just below the gill vents. The hole was about the diameter of a softball; I thought they were unique and I liked them. I have made very preliminary inquirys but have been told, when opened they will ruin the paint. I am still looking into it.
If anyone has that picture I would like to see it again; I can't find it.
i have the 3" QTP setup. I have had EACH motor rebuilt 3x now. the motors fail quite often and its getting annoying. BUT, i love the cutouts on my 427ci. the sound, is just amazing! I have no cats so its straight from the motor.
I also noticed a performance gain of about 15rwhp. So its def worth the money if you are looking for perf gain. Even on the track, i noticed about a tenth of a second gain.

I have QTP cutouts on my F350 with a 460 c.i. They have gotten stuck open and stuck closed from time to time. I use my truck in the mud and sand going on/off the beach surf fishing. I have had to take them a part and clean them a couple of times. They get all dirty/ gooky inside. When I take them a part, I clean them with brake cleaner and lube the gears up with a high temp grease. It works well. I thought mine quit, but they were just dirty and the little motor wasn't strong enough to over power the sand, dirt and rust build up. I have it down to a 30 min job or so. I also sealed them back up with high temp silicone.

I'm on pair #2 now and I love the sound on with my stock setup. I have been tossing around the idea of changing over from Corsa to GHL catbacks and DHM.
