True HP rating of the LS1
#2
seems like most 6sp cars make around 300-315rwhp. no two LS1's seem to make the same power from what ive seen, but im young and dumb. LOL.
take the high end, 315rwhp x1.2=378hp or so?
just my .02.

it would be interesting to see what a stock LS1 gets on the new engine dynos. SAE recently changed the testing rules to get a more consistent reading across all manufacturers. as a result many advertised hp ratings changed. interestingly enough most import engines saw lower ratings under the improved guidelines, and most domestic engines got higher ratings.
it would be really interesting to see what current results are.

the 345HP is refferring to flywheel HP. There are losses going through the drivetrain. My bone stock 99 with an automatic dynoed at a mere 275 HP the first time I had it checked.
(now it is double that )

When I dyno'd my car after installing a catback I had 310rwhp 315rwtq. The shop said most sock C5s will dyno between 299 and 310. But horsepower is going to range even from LS1 to LS1. The answer to your question is too open ended. The only answers you could possibly expect would be averages.

315/0.85~370.6 hp
the 15% conversion factor for manuals needs to be factored in by divisor rather than multiplied.
but you got the right idea
Also, It's my belief that GM used that crappy 4 3/4" hole breathing stock air box to get the LS1 DOWN to 345hp(I've seen it posted on the forums as well so I won't take all the credit), as soon as you remove that terrible flow restriction, you'll find most people can pick up 15 rwhp just from a true CAI.

Typically - 15% drivetrain loss for the manual trans, about 20% for the automatic cars.
So take your flywheel HP or torque numbers (factory numbers) and divide by 1.15 and you'll be pretty close.

That's my understanding also, that 345hp is at the flywheel, just like I believe the cubic inch is actually 346, and not 350?
