What C-5 to buy
I will be looking for a 2000 to 2004 C-5 automatic. Which one would be the best year to get. I know you will probably say 04. I should say what years had problems. I had a 99 and it had lots of problems. I'm going to be in the $20,000 to $25,000 range with the lowest miles I can find after I sell my Subaru Outback. I've had 9 Corvettes since I was 19, but have been without one for the past 5 years. ( It's killing me) Any information would be appreciated.

What C5 to buy
If performance is not important, stay with the stock rear-end ratio. But it will be sluggish compared with a manual trans' 3.42 or the 3.15. If the original purchaser went for the 3.15 factory upgrade it will help performance and only cost you a 1-2 miles per gallon.

I'd stay away from early 2001's. I bought my 01 #1500 or so in April with 11,800 miles on it and have put 3000 miles and two quarts of Mobil 1 in it so far. Early 01's had an oil use problem due to the rings GM put in. I found that out too late..................otherwise the car has been trouble free. Dave

Get the newest, lowest mileage one you can fit into your budget. Obviously changes were made each model year so in theory the '04 would be the best of the breed. But I really enjoyed my '00.

my 04 CE convertible has been very reliable and dependable. doesn't seem to use oil like some have reported about other years. admittedly it's a 6 speed and that means fewer drive train problems overall, but if the trans has been serviced (you'd be surprised how many people don't realize there is a filter in the trans that needs to be changed regularly, lol).

what year
Im partial to the 2003 model. I like telling people about the 50th anniversary year
But the lowest mileage, o3-04 would be good advice
Good luck on your search

Thanks for all your replies. I am leaning towards the 03 or 04. The diff ratio isn't that important, but I would like the standard ratio. It will still get better mileage than the Subaru. It averages 17 to 20 combined city & highway. That's what happens when you put a 250hp 6 cylinder in a Japanese Car.

I love the 50th Anniversary model with the 2 tone interior, and paint color. Just have to find a low mileage one. I like Millenium Yellow a lot too.

Can't tell where you're from (no info in your profile) but if you are in a warm weather clime I'd go for a vert from 02-04. I had a C4 coupe but in AZ you just gotta love the sunshine and we're good for probably 9 months with the top down. Also the coupe was torch red and I wanted something other than red (except the metallic of 04, great color), black, white, silver or yellow. Took me about three months to finally find what I liked. Good Luck!

The year doesn't really matter. The condition and care of the car is what is more important.
I've had 5 from 98 through 04 and the driving experience of all of them were remarkably similar.
