United States Marine Corps, 1977-2008
30 years, 3 months & 10 days total service, just over 22 years of which was active, with a stint of a little over 8 years of quasi "broken time" in the Reserves. I'd like to say that I should have never gotten out, but if I had I would have probably missed Iraq. While I did participate in Operation Desert Storm, for me, the two tours in Iraq epitomized what it was to be a United States Marine.
Held MOSs in Assault Amphibian Vehicles (AAVs) Tanks and Logisitcs.
On August 18, 1978, 34 years ago today, my Dad, a retired USAF pilot, administered the oath of office that commissioned me a second lieutenant of Marines.
Over the years, no matter where I was, there were two days each year when I could expect a call from the old man when he was still living. One was each November 10, when he'd call to wish me a happy Marine Corps Birthday. The other was today. Semper Fi, Dad. And thanks.

Boy, doesn't that just say it all? Sincere best wishes with your current battle.

If there is even the slightest possibility that exposures in Iraq led to these issues, along the lines of Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam, you should be awarded a full medical disability. Hopefully the groups that fought the Agent Orange battles with the VA & the Pentagon can be of help to you.

Proud to be a prior member of USAF

1971 - 1977. Scott AFB - HQ MAC. I went in when I was 17 and still some of the best years of my life. The Air Force afforded me the opportunity to complete my under grad and grad degrees and move into a successul business career.

As someone else here has already mentioned you need to get into the VA system if you haven't done so already.
If you need assistance, send me a PM. I'd be happy to help.

Former Navy man here. Served on a sub tender, USS Oak Ridge , stationed in Rota, Spain. It was great, certainly wish I had served longer but I'm grateful for the experience. And Rota/Barcelona Spain was great duty.

Greetings,

Just wondering if anyone was stationed at Misawa AB Japan during 1972-74 and remembers a 1957 Corvette on base. (Red with White Coves)

The car was dropped on the front end while being offloaded from the ship at the water port.

I bought it in Nov 74 at McGuire AFB from a Finance Office SSgt. (He’s now deceased.) He had bought the car from the military person who shipped it from the states.

Thanks in advance,

Dave Evans SMSgt USAF Ret.

20 year USAF vet. Retired 2004 as an E7. Started out working on Nukes and then cross trained to AFOSI. Was a Special Agent in OSI for about 15 years. Great career and enjoyed most of it. Spent some time in the sandbox for OIF.
