Engine Shakes on Shut Down
I have a 2004 Manual Coupe with about 14k miles on it.
When I turn the car off, the engine shakes pretty vigorously. To the point where the car actually rocks a bit.

I was reading leaftye's post on common problems and it does talk about this a little bit in the "Drivetrain rattling" section:
"Sometimes you'll hear a horrible rattle if you shut off the engine. If you press the clutch pedal in while shutting off the car, you won't hear it."
Depressing the clutch when shutting off the car does help, but does not eliminate the problem completely.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to what it might be?
My first thought is that it could be the motor mounts. Unfortunately, I am not sure where to look for them and didnt have much luck finding info on where theyre located. Can I even inspect them without putting the car on a lift?
How much does it cost to have motor mounts replaced?
Any thoughts, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Honestly tho its normal. The motor mounts on C5s are very soft (mainly because the crowd that bought C5s when they were being made was a little older and liked em softer - the C5 was supposed to be somewhat luxurious)... and the rattle is likely your throwout bearing, if you leave your car in neutral a lot with the clutch in it wears out the t/o bearing, however, its just somewhat annoying and not harmful even then... Nothing out of the ordinary.
If it really bothers you, swap the motor mounts for poly-urethane ones... However be warned, if you do that, you'll feel much more of the engines vibrations ALL OVER the cabin
- You will, arguably, pick up some more engine response and put more horsepower to the wheels.

I had a '99 C5 Coupe automatic and the engine never shook like this on shut down, which is why I am concerned.
The rattle when the clutch is not depressed is normal.

I was gonna call Conte's, County Corvette, Kerbeck and even Rothrock! Ask em all if this is normal and then compare prices on having new motor mounts installed...

And what do I really expect them to say? Sure thats normal, have a good day!
Theyre businesses. Theyll all say, bring it in and let us check it out...

Gotta look at the good and the bad. The bad, the engine shakes like its gonna flop out of the car. The good, if I time it properly, I can drown out the sound of my farts by letting loose at the same time I cut the engine.

However, I asked them about a noise that the clutch was making. With the engine running, clutch in, put the car into gear then back into neutral, let the clutch go, and it makes this clankity popping noise. I was like is this normal? They said yes!
There was another C5 manual there and it did the exact same thing. I feel like I just got a ton of bricks off of my shoulders...
You know how much it costs to "check" or change a clutch? A LOT!!!
1. The engine shakes/vibrates like its ready to come loose, and
2. The normal clutch noise when pedal is not depressed.
Unless a slight exxageration was used when describing the engine vibration....?
The noise from the clutch really only became apparent to me as I was turning around in my driveway today. Its probably a separate issue, even though depressing the clutch while shutting off the car, did reduce the noise from the engine but did not reduce the vibration.
Initially they said that it is not a sound they are familiar with, put the car on a lift and had someone in the car shifting while someone was beneath the car inspecting. They thought it was ok. This was confirmed when they walked me over to another manual C5 and it made the exact same noise.
