Default Gas Smell in Cabin

Picked up my (new to me) 00 - vert today. Had a blast driving it around. Car was down to about a 1/4 of a tank so I filled it up. I now have the smell of Gas in the cabin. As you can imagine I am not happy. Will call the dealer tomorrow. I did some searches and I saw a few post about leaks, I do not see any leaks just smell in the cabin. Any idea's would be appreciated.

Just inside, not outside. I can smell it when i enter the cabin when the car is not running. I think it is coming from the filler area behind the drivers seat. Did not smell it until i filled up. I did not overfill, i let it stop on it's own.

Not sure how the gas caps work on the C5's, but mine does not seem to lock. It keeps spinning if i turn it which is different from my other newer vehicles. Could that be a problem?

I think the cap will keep turning, but you hear clicks.

Yes bought it from a Vette specialty dealer. He had a great BBB rating and good referrals. Clean car fax and autocheck. Car did not have the smell when i picked it up, just after the fill up.

Could it be that when you filled up the tank some of the gas spilled out onto the filler opening and ran down the drain tube to under the car? May not have got onto the outside of the car and perhaps the smell filtered up into the cabin without a strong odor on the outside.

Just a guess.

Went out this morning expecting the smell to be stronger since the car was sitting in the garage overnight. Too my surprise it was not stronger but was still present. I will pick up a Gas cap today just to try to eliminate that, although I don't hold out much hope for that being the cure. Will also call the dealer this morning. Will keep you guys posted.

I have a floor jack but I do not want to damage the underside of the car. I guess I will need to order the pucks.

Make the pucks, 2 dollars each at any ice hockey rink and 2 dollars worth of eye hook at home depot. it takes about 15 minutes to make them.
Make sure they are " Ice Hockey" pucks and not street hockey or roller hockey pucks.
These are dense rubber 1 X 3 inch official NHL pucks. the street hockey pucks are plastic.

I know on the early cars the fuel filter can leak. I am not sure about the 00 cars, they may be in the tank. Some one will know for sure.
