Good Year Vs Michelin tires
I am wondering if anyone with a C5 Z06 has gone from stock Good Year Supercar tires to Michelin PS2's. I need new tires, and bought the first replacement set as OEM tires, but thought I'd check out other tires this time around. I have PS2's on the Viper, and they are good, but I don't have a comparative basis between GY and Michelin tires on the Vette. I know there are cheaper tires out there, but my main goal is a street tire, with as much grip as possible, but the tires have to last more than 5k miles too. Neglecting wet traction as I don't drive it in the rain, which of these two do you recommend? Have you switched from GY Supercars (not runflats) to Michelins and what is your experience?

The PS2s are very good tires. Ran a set of them on my '00 for a while. No complaints at all.

I did in fact I went from the GY's to Nitto's 555R11's to the PS2's. For some reason the GY's always get a bad rap and I felt they were a real good tire. Although the PS2's are a little more polished, for instance a much more predictable tire, a bit quieter and though its to early to tell I think they are going to last a bit longer. I noticed once my GY's hit about 8,000 miles even with plenty of life in the tread they started to lose there performance ability. One very noticeable thing on the PS2's is when you first drive them in the cold their traction stinks the GY's were not as bad but they heat up real quick. My decision would be on the deal if you can get a killer deal on either of them you won't go wrong, I would change back with no problem.

I've had the PS2's for a couple of years. I really like them although the "protective rubber lip" sticks out beyond the wheel a bit more than I'd like.

Thanks for all your replies. I am really in need of a good, dry traction tire. The turbos necessitate the best traction tire I can get without spending $500 a tire...

Unfortunately Goodyear no longer makes the GS-D3's in Z06 sizes. The largest rear is a 285/18. From all I've read the PS2 will outperform the Goodyear Supercar F1.

Yep, I read some tire reviews on Tire Rack, and a lot of people liked the GY GS D3's, but it sounded like they preferred it more because of comfort and noise levels. I only found one negative review the PS2's, and everyone else really liked it. Also, someone else had a good point: Hopefully, there's a performance reason why the ZR1 is using Michelins instead of GY's now. I just priced the PS2's at Costco and it was $277 for each front tire, and $442 for each rear, which isn't vastly different than about $305/$350 for GY's. So, I'll give it a try, and provide feedback later. Thanks!

I've read a lot of reviews, and the PS2 always seems to come out on top. One particular review in Vette magazine compared the C6Z OE Goodyears to the new PS2 ZP. The PS2 ZP toasted the Goodyears. From what I've read, that IS precisely the reason the ZR1 (and the Caddy CTS-V) run the Michelins.
