I wonder how these would look with a clear/acrylic mold instead of a black mold? it would be cool to see the guts of the lights while also providing protection from the elements. Another option would be a mold finished in primer that could then be painted to match the color of the car.

It looks pretty cool exposed. Perhaps dress up the plate with (real) Carbon Fiber and add an acrylic/clear mold. Even though the lenses will be exposed, I think you're correct in designing a mold to protect the wiring, etc.

Drifting
not as much of a problem with flip up lights because they are not exposed to sun light very much (normally turn on after dark) the exposed types are in the sun every min that the the car is.

What's the word on fuses on the car and ballast mounting for this setup?
I've currently got HIDs for my low-beams and had to mount the ballast to the wheel wells and put higher powered fuses for the bulbs.
