However, If you replace the pinion support, you will have to do a ring and pinion set up. If you skip the pinion, its easy as hell. No set up required!!

The transmission has post and articles on its own. Its a whole nother topic. YOU TUBE SEARCH and you will find a LOT on that topic. Most parts are just repair replacement but you can get steel shift forke, bronce shift fork pads 30 spline hardened output shaft or a standard spline hardned output shaft.

Thanks man! So you think this would be the move instead of doing like an RPM transmission upgrade for the diff and trans?

What are your goals and intended uses for the car?? How much wheel HP / Tq do you have,, plan on installing????

A full shop built trans and diff are hard to beat. If its for an every day driver that dose some spirited driving, its a waste of money.

The C6 ZO6 Parts are an EXCELLENT up=grade as it gets rid of inherently well known WEAK C5 parts.

With the installation of C6 parts, the rear is stronger but NOT bullet proof.. Neither is the well known shop built units. IF,,,,,,,,,,,, You expose the drivetrain to wheel hop/drivetrain shake, it will break a LOT of parts in short order. You have to also do things to help limit hop/shake....

Hope this helps.

the case is still a weak point, it is dinky looking when sitting next to a c6z/zr1 case... not my pics but you can see the size difference

Thanks for getting back to me. The car currently is heads/cam/nitrous running a 150 shot. I am making 591whp/603ft/lb. I do drive the car on the street but rarely. I use it more as a track toy for drag racing. This season my best is 10.68 @ 137.

I originally was going to do a c6z swap but it is really becoming hard for me to justify the 14-17k price point all in with everything said and done. at most I am going to throw a little more spray at it and run a 200 shot. Car is not tracked every weekend but a decent amount through out the 2018 season.

Work has slowed down a lot this year and I have some other things I would like my money to go to other then just the car so that is part of what why I do not want to spend the money doing the c6z swap.

However with that being said I am not looking to just be cheap with everything. Just looking for a good bang for the buck utilizing the resources I have. Which is why I was looking at this diff rebuild forum because my brother can very easily build a diff/trans himself as he is a mechanic by trade.

I also plan on adding the trans/diff brace this time around lol.

The trans/diff brace is a good plan. I would also look into the aFe power diff mount. They come up once in awhile on the forum..

My clutches are done, can I just use the
C6 Z06 clutches 19132906 (need 2)
HD spring for the clutches 19132817 (need 2)

or do I have to swap other parts as well?

You can...make sure you have evaluated the "while I am here/what I do with this car" question as to your need for the C6Z shafts.

Replacing the seals (output shaft, side cover, front o-ring) would be prudent. Good Luck!

There are no bearings in this kit. This kit is just the C6 Zo6 Axles stubs, Spider Gears, Clutches, Clutch Springs, seals & O rings. These parts are much stronger than C5 parts.
Thanks

Amazing info in this thread!

Regarding the carbon clutches the consensus is that they are superior to the stock C5 clutches, but is there anyway to indicate by how much 30%, 50% etc?
The other day I had a one wheel burnout at the track which I suspect are worn out clutches or/and broken belleville washers. Its possible I may have not wet one the tires when reversing into the water box, although I don't know for sure.

Is there a recent "Parts List" for this upgrade? I recently picked up some micro polished 4.10 gears. Hoping to find a 3 rib case to build up with this threads upgrades and the 4.10's. Figured I would get all the parts in hand and then have a local diff shop build it for me. I have a Monster Clutch & 12mm torque tube I want to get installed. I also have a cage and Pfadt trans mount to install with it. Would be nice to swap in a built diff at the same time.

I know I'm bumping an old thread but is the consensus still that you can reuse the original pinion nut? I cant find one in stock at a dealer anywhere and the original looks fine
