1of50/ 1of1 made C5/w C6Zo6 engine from chevy
ok... whats it worth....My son is going to receive this corvette from his Grandfather.
It is a C5 (last year) with a C6 Z06 427 engine built by Chevy.
there were 50 of these vetts made,(prototypes) all but 1 were sticks, this is the only one built with an automatic
the story is that it was owned by a family friend that raced for chevy, he was retired and his knees were SHOT, so they built him the only Automatic, ie 1of1....
now, for those that are skeptical, yes these statements are 100% factual. I knew Joe before he passed away, and this is a for real thing
So, what's it worth? and what's it gong to be worth?

Sorry, but I am skeptical of this car (or even the other purported 49) to be built by Chevrolet. I would want to see documentation of this before any additional value could be placed on the car. As of now, all you got is a 2004 Corvette with a parts counter LS7 installed by who knows who... Should be fun to drive, though !

ok... the statements I gave are true and factual. The drivers name was Joe Witer. He was a personal family friend for many years. The cars were built at GM this way. NOT a buy back, but straight out of GM this way.... On the valve cover it says something like "to Joe Weiter" and then something referring to 427
I understand you to be skeptical, and I no not want to spend time arguing the point that it is real, it is very real....
So, for those that just cant believe this to be so, please humor me, and give me your honest opinion on value

No way. If true, we're talking 1 of 50 with a 505HP 427 mill from the factory. If not, probably a bit more than a regular Z for the next few years. Maybe in 20 years or so it might be worth less when authenticity will begin to matter.
I can't wait to see where this heads -- very interesting tale

It will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sorry for the worn out cliche, but that is the bottom line. If you have such a rare car that nobody has heard about it, then there isn't much of a market for it.
For the sake of a great discussion and possible preservation of these cars, please post up the proof that you have. I am sure this whole community would love to see it and find out about some rare C5s.

The value would be tied to the documentation. To be genuine, it would have an 'RPO' like option, documented inside the glove box. (and in afew other places I understand) If Chevy produced a few 'mules' for testing purposes, they would not be released to the public. I guess the first question I'd have after that, is it streetable? The cars that were built for racing (such as the one that Earnhart drove at Daytona), had a 427, but they were not produced for street use.

Where I find it a little hard to believe is the LS7 was not even offered in the first year of the C6, it came out in 06. So that would mean the engine was developed two years before it was offered. Maybe that is reasonable, but to simple put them in a C5 and tell 50 people go race. Also if that was the case, I am sure someone out there would have been aware of it before now.

Neither I nor any of the inside folks from GM that are friends have ever heard of such a thing (that doesn't mean it didn't happen), but if what you say IS true and documented through a VIN search this would be very interesting. How 'bout PMing me the full VIN and pics of the RPO codes from the glove box lid and I'll do some leg work for you.
There were 409 powered '62 Corvettes and 396 powered '64 Chevelles too, but none survived the crusher.

Well... I have been on the CF forum long enough that I should have known I would have to fight the skeptics before I could get some honest opinions....
It is my x-father-in-laws car, I personally know its history and that it is real...
I will post some pics next week when my son goes and visits him...even the valve covers were autographed by the engine builders at GM for Joe
