Default "Service Column Lock" meaasage 2000 manual

2000' manual. I have a "Service Column Lock" measage. I Reset , turned car off. Started car and messsage is back. I reset the message again and drove 30 miles with no problem. What could cause the message to display and the steering wheeel not locked?

I came across your question in my search. My car is doing the exact same thing. How did you fix? Thanks

If you do not have a CLB installed prepare to be stranded and/or towed.

I had the same problem on my 01 vert, I went with the column lock bypass module, so I have no worries!

Start here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...-question.html

Or with a search for posts by 8vette7 (username), he knows the CLB system inside and out.

Good luck

We have all been there... Good luck and call Corvettes of Houston. $60 and you will be good to go.. Plus, make sure you have a GOOD battery! You need a min of 12.5 v to make the computer happy..

His thread/question was from almost a year ago. DJ bumped it I guess because he is having the same issue.

Plenty of info on it if he searched for it.

My bad. I'm new to the Vette and the Forum. During my frenzy of searching I was posting messages left and right not realizing I was bumping a bunch of old threads. BTW...I did get it fixed thanks to this forum. No harm...no foul.

Good deal that you got it fixed. It's a problem that GM never really did solve - unfortunately. The column lock bypass is well worth the money and peace of mind.
