flashing AC button light

flashing AC button light
when very cold (around 30 or less), and I hit the AC button, it flashes and goes out.
after the car warmed up, and I restarted it after running around, it came on and stayed on as normal. I think this means the AC needs a recharge and it's a bit low. new to the c5.
any advice??

From the Owner's Manual:
The light comes on when the air conditioner compressor is on. The compressor will not run with outside temperatures of below approximately 35 F to 40 F.

Does the AC not come in in the cold weather when you ask for defrost? I thought it came on in most cars to lubricate the compressor in the winter and to remove moisture in the defrosting air.
My baby is stored inside for the winter and not used, so I don't have any "winter experience" with my C5, but that's what happens in my other GM products.

I thought the same thing as RonJ. I thought AC was supposed to kick on when defrosting.
I had this light flash for the first time today. the OAT was about 32 or so, so the cold weather answer makes sense.
I also thought about adding freon but do not want to overcharge the system.
I called the dealer and asked them if it was normal in cold weather for that to happen and they said no ... the exact reason I stopped going to the dealer within a month of buying my vette. This is their car and they have no idea how to work on it or what is even wrong sometimes.
My question is I guess it the cold weather the reason that my ac will not come on?

Mine is doing the same, and indeed, it says so in the manual. HOWEVER, I think it's a stupid design!!! Like you guys said, the A/C is used in summer to get the heat out, but in winter time it's a great asset to get your windows defrosted when it's cold and humid. I have not driven a single car (including a C4) that had this restriction except for the C5.....

It could also mean that the sensor is bad. Mine did the same thing during the summer. I fixed the problem by replacing it. Yeah I know the op said around 30 degrees or less.

wow i love this forum, i have owned my c5Z for 2 years now and recently this is the coldest weather i have ever driven it in (was low 20s here today) and noticed the blinking ac light and it freaked me out, after only 2 mins of searching i found this thread and got my answer!
